Doing the Kicker speaker swapout, removing the factory speakers, happened to be doing after a rain, saw a pretty significant amount of water on the existing speakers. See first pic. When gasketing up the Kickers, I rigged up a water shield for them with the Noico CCF I was using. See second and third pics.37A0FD0B-08B4-45A2-9888-6491B0FD21AB.jpg0DF1A577-FB53-4362-AB80-002F88934149.jpgA7615C61-64E3-4760-86E7-1664683FF073.jpg

Speakers are designed with water in mind. It won’t hurt them so don’t let it worry you.

the baffles, on the other hand, will typically make them sound significantly worse.

Water ruined the left speaker on my truck (JBL stadium) as it got into the voice coil and then froze. I got a replacement, then installed some of those foam cups.... they sound like shit. But, if you cut out the bottom of the foam things they sound just fine and still keeps the water off my speaker.

Well water freezing in the voice coil is slightly uncommon lol. But yeah, that would probably cause some damage

Yeah it sucked, happened a week after I had installed the speakers. After it thawed out the voice coil rubbed real bad so I got a replacement. Either way, I completely agree with the baffles making the speaker sound like trash.

i usually just cut up some 'for sale' signs, and then bend them up with a lighter to do the job.
