Noticed a funky smell in my cab and noticed the carpet pad near the firewalls rubber grommet was wet after a good rain last night. Any thoughts? Trucks only a year old and I haven’t run any wires through the grommet. The area in the picture is the wettest ( on top of the wires coming in)
Dealer cannot look at it until Tuesday.

Roof rack? Water coming down the A pillar maybe? Doesn’t seem likely it would be coming in around that grommet.

No roof rack. The wetness is limited to the blue pad directly around the wires, only the areas that are ‘cut’.

You have any port or dealer installed accessories? The grommet is used for a lot, mine had port installed led fogs that had the wire ran through there. Technically they are supposed to put a dollop of silicone after

    seems unlikely but

Dealership told me the grommet is broken because I zipped a raptor light wire to the hood latch wire near the hood. Told me call insurance as the cost is crazy. They tried to caulk the penetration of the hood release which didn’t help

They got in yesterday, caulked it up for me and charged me $140. I went back today cause it was wet this morning after the rain. They told the whole wiring harness needs to replaced with the grommet. $5k in parts plus 30 hours of labor. None of it makes sense

Unless they can take you out there and show you specifically what has been compromised, it sounds to me like they’re taking you for a ride.

My first thought is that you live in a high humidity area and you are getting condensation around the hole. I'd use something like flex paste before getting everything replaced.

They said the water is coming through the top of the grommet below. You can see some caulk residue from the hood release from yestersay

Do you have a sunroof? If so this is a common symptom of it being clogged and overflowing into your headliner and then down the A-piller. happend to a buddy of mine
