this is the same as using a harbor freight motor in your truck. yes, it will make it move, yes, it will use less gas. but it doesn't perform the same because it wasn't designed around the use.

i know plenty of people that have used similar roofing material type products as sound dampers. about half have problems. you just happen to be on the lucky half.

all sound damping works on the same fundamental mass-loading effect. and the roofing-based stuff meets those basic needs as well. but the main important difference is the usage. roofing materials on a roof can off-gas without consequence. it's on a roof, in open air. but off-gassing in a confined space is a very real thing, and can cause a variety of issues. temps within a vehicle can easily surpass roof temps because of the confined nature, which puts the materials used to make it stretched beyond their limitations, which can easily cause further issues with off-gassing, as well as material movement, due to the different installation nature.

I mean, If it works... then it works.
Like I said I applied the stuff to my doors, the roof of the cab, the floor and under the hood and wheel wells of my truck and hasn't melted off anywhere. It doesn't smell like others say either. The only thing I see different is the price compared to name brand stuff.
