Got a 2013 DCSB non jbl. Speakers suck, of course. I went on Crutchfield and picked out some front lower Rockford fosgates R165X3 and chose same ones for the rear. Also picked out R1TS tweeters by Rockford fosgates. $140 total. Any opinions? Just need some better speakers over stock. Stock sounds like they’re done once I turn them up enough to enjoy. Don’t want the best setup but something affordable and sounds good.. thx

Rockfords are sweet. I went kicker ds series because they are priced well and have high sensitivity for either stock HU or aftermarket HU. Infinity also has great sounding speakers but they were just double the cost for me at time

While I haven't heard those exact speakers before, I can guarantee that they'll sound better than your stock speakers. Anything is better than stock when it comes car speakers.

I’m so glad to hear this, I was wondering if $45-50 speakers would be an upgrade or not, should i move up to maybe $75 rockfords? Or most likely I won’t hear the difference

I probably wouldn't bother. Others know more than me, but I'm pretty sure that unless you're upgrading your headunit and planning on powering your speakers with an amplifier you will see enough improvement with those $50 speakers alone to be happy.

The ones I installed were like 47$ from eBay. I’ve had kickers jl and a few other name brands in past vehicles and these out of all of them sound and hit the best.

For a pinch over $200, you could install Pioneer TS-A692C (components) in front with Pioneer TS-A652F in the rear.

Look up the details on Crutchfield.

I'm sure the stock HU will run these. Then later, if you decide to replace the HU, you'll have speakers with more capacity and performance already.

    IMHO, yes.

Check the frequency range of the speakers, impedance and other performance measures. Ultimately, your choice your decision.

You could also discuss with a Crutchfield tech which would be a better choice for your wants/needs/desires.

    Don't overlook this amp
    https://www.crutchfield.com/p_500KTP445U/Alpine-KTP-445U-Power-Pack.html
I have one running off stock power and tucked it up with zip ties behind the glove box. I bridged the amp so instead of 45x4 it was 90x2 for the front two speakers. I disconnected the rears because they are those garbage overhead things under the liner..I have an access cab so I only went with front components and hit the crossovers in the kick panels by the doors..I made my own mounting adapters for the tweeters out of a $5 plastic cutting board and a hole saw...here are my pictures of the install

This is the newest version of the amp

You could get some volume gains with an amp. Amps only boost the signal from the HU, they shouldn't alter the frequency.

I'm not planning to muck about with an amp.

I just took a look at the Rockfords you mentioned. The frequency range is not as broad as the Pioneers. You would get more lows and more highs with the Pioneers than the Rockfords

    Rockfords 60-22 kHz
    Pioneers 33-49 kHz

You should run a comparison on the Crutchfield site to look at these side by side.

Ironically, humans can only hear frequency range of 20-20 kHz. So, either speaker set will produce highs that you cannot hear.

you're speaking a different language...lol I don't understand what these numbers and values mean. I trust you, I'm going with the Pioneer's.
