Want to lift 99 4Runner 1"

So I picked up a 99 4runner limited. I am going to replace the shocks and springs. It is for my 16 year old son and will be a daily but do want to lift it only about an 1". It is bne stock and no plans for gear or bumpers.
Any recommendations on set up and who to go through.

The '99 Limiteds have springs that are about an 1" longer then any other model ( base, SR5, sport) so a fresh set of those springs and some good quality shocks will go a long way in refreshing the suspension. Don't forget to check/replace the lower ball joints with OE ones, the aftermarket version have a very high failure/premature wear rate.

On my '99 limited, I used the MOOG replacement springs ( against the advice of 10,000 keyboard "experts" ) and KYB Monomax shocks. The suspension hasn't sagged or fallen apart in the 4 years that I've been using my budget suspension.

The OME suspensions are hard to beat for ride quality. I had a few friends that went from Toytec suspensions to OME suspensions and never looked back.

 

I put Bilstens on all four corners on my 02. Best replacement in my opinion..

This is exactly what I was going to say. I picked up a 2000 and have researched pretty heavily. Seems the 99s are the way to go for a small lift, and a set of Bilstein s to go with it, I forget the model but they're the yellow ones.

 

Yes Bilstiens are the way to go. You might have to replace the spring pearch bushing and shock tower bushing ect.

 

4600 B6's ! I just installed the 4600's all around on my '99. I had to outboard the rear upper mounts because the stock mount rotted away on the passenger side. I found that the front KYB Monomax's were seized. I used the stock coils up front for now, the 3rd gen Taco OR springs that I tried raised the front another 1", so the stance was nose up which I can't stand. I have the MOOG rear coils which have been back there for the past 4 years. I am impressed at how well the 4600's work.
