    Hello all,

I bought Goodyear wrangle duratracs from Walmart online shipped to me and I noticed some weird things that I was looking for guidance on what to do next. So first of all the tread pattern is slightly different than a stock duratrac. Second the tires are missing holes for studs which I don’t need so it’s not a huge deal. And lastly on two of the four tires there are red stickers pealed off and on one of them I can make out the letters rejec. The tires were made on the 42 week of 2022 so they are not very old but do you think they are re treads? Or did Goodyear come out with some sort of cheaper tire with a different tread pattern? I was a little skeptical buying them in the first place but they were $80 cheaper per tire so I figured I would try them with Walmarts return policy. Should I return them? Or is there something I am missing and they are probably fine?

I would definitely return them. Potentially defective tires could be very dangerous.

They could be blems, or "blemished". It's a tire with cosmetic defects, not structural but cosmetic and they are usually sold at a discount. I think they have to be disclosed as blems so recheck the walmart listing. Keep in mind those probably didn't come from wally world stock if you bought them online.

Were they sold & shipped by Walmart or a third party vendor?

I would take them to the nearest store and ask to talk with a manager. Explain to him your concerns & ask for a refund or exchange - whichever you want - due to the red stickers & your concerns for the safety of your family & others on the road. Document this with a follow up email to the manager so you create a paper trail. If that doesn't help call the corporate help number.

Walmart wants no liability with bad tires. Link back to this post in any correspondence, they avoid negative publicity if at all possible. I'm pretty sure you can get a refund if you want it.

@garrettsprenger not to add insult to injury, but if you decide to return the tires, Discount Tire would honor a Low Price Promise and match what they where charging you. If there is a Discount Tire location near you, you could take advantage of all the free services after installation. Rotations, balance and repairs all free. That red sticker would draw concern for me as well.

Funny thing. I work with a guy that worked at Bridgestone year ago. He was a quality tech. He just said today that he would not buy tires from walmart because they are not truly what they say they are. Avoid walmart for tires in the future.

Yes, tires sold to box stores are slightly different than those sold to other retailers.

Back when Sears was still a thing they would sell Sears exclusive Michelin tires, which were cheaper.

And to make things even more complicated, tire manufacturers will typically make the same model name tire to different specifications for different manufacturers, climates, regions of the country, and retailers.

Check out the G/Y Ultra Terrain at Discount. If you don’t need E range and you do a lot of pavement driving you will love them. I’m amazed at how smooth and quiet they are and almost 5000 miles now I don’t see any wear.
I’m not a fan of Goodyears but these are top notch.

Okay, So since my buddy does tires I had them put on thinking I could just return them if they were bad because I saved all of the wrapping and labels. They took a good amount of weight tires took 4 to 7oz but they ride completely fine. I did a 4 hour round trip on them, 80+ mph at times here in MT. They are quiet with zero vibration. I got them for $1100 dollars so at the end of the day I decided to keep them because other tires at that price point are slicks. If they blow up or something I will let people Know. I plan on rotating every 5,000 miles and doing a true test on them So I will re post in a couple of years If I remember, or if something goes bad. Also, shout out to the discount tire guy (Jacob I believe) for reaching out to me. I definitely will not order from Walmart again, I will just match the price through discount tire. The reason I didn't do it this time was because I needed the tires on right away. and the return period for Walmart was 5 days before they would consider the refund then the refund could take another 5 days to post.

Yes ikr. My buddy that works at Firestone said that Walmart tire employees can reject them if they are hard to balance. Not sure if that’s what happened, but he said all of the tires looked good and rolled straight before mounting and balancing them.

Liability is a huge issue with Walmart, they will avoid it if at all possible, but I think someone let those slip by in my opinion. Keep all documentation in case of failure. Keep track of which tire had the reject labels on them.
