So Im looking at the walmart tires and see they have the Cooper Discoverer A/T for $112 a tire. I am under the impression that they are a "walmart only" tire and somehow less capable than a AT3.

Does anyone have any experience with these tires? Is there any real reason to not get them?

For intended usage, I am mostly a road driver and only a few times a year pull a pontoon boat.

I have them in 265/75R16 since back in May.
I really like them so far. Like you I don't off road much but they are not too loud, hardly notice any difference between them and the stock highway all season tires that came with the truck. The tread pattern is similar to the AT3 but not exactly. They might be a previous version of the tires sold at full retail price stores, not sure.
I haven't tested them in snow yet but the tread design is close to tires I've had that worked well in snow so they should be good. I've been on gravel and dirt roads and towing my pop up camper places with them no complaints here

The price was really good, too good to pass up here. I know people might look down on Walmart and I was a little bit unsure about trusting them with my truck. I actually called and talked to the tire shop manager at the Shrewsbury Pa location before decided. He seemed professional and legit.
I gave them a chance and they actually did a great job. Better than the country tire shop I was going to loyally but started having issues with the quality of the work their since they had new younger employees.
Can't say every Walmart location is the same but that one gets a vote of confidence from me.

That's the original Cooper A/T, an excellent tire that spawned three more derivatives... probably the best bang for the buck tire available ATM.

I have been eyeballing these for a week or so too!! I also rarely get off road, and the snow here in VA is few and far between. Definitley a good looking tire and I think I will get these as my stock Wranglers are almost done. I have also seen that Sam's Club has a few nice options as well.

Not enough bandwidth on the internet to list.
I've been running AT3's for years on several different rigs. Mostly the XLT's but damn...those things are stOOpid cheap! And still a 60k warranty, ta boot! If I were to need a mostly all highway tire, I'd jump on those like Oprah on a baked ham!

Walmart has good tires and some are made to their spec's the only downside for them is they will only put the tires on listed on the door post. Their tech's are trained well both with tutorials of the equipment they use and mentioned by a supervisor. I worked at a TLE for a few months. But came to like their tires. Some people really liked them also as many were repeat customers. If you got tires there, their system would allow nation wide road hazard warranty along with rotation and balance if purchased. Your car/truck was in a nation wide data base that followed the vin.

Interesting that you said they will only put on what's on the door post. I had ordered my tires online in 265/75R16 and brought in the truck with the stock sr5 size 245/75 on it. The only thing they said at the store was "you know you ordered 265s and those are wider than what you have?" I said I know what I did, it should be fine. The tech Just said " Ya they'll fit no problem". After The guys were all complimenting my truck and how the new tires looked much better. I made a minor size change and got away with it there. Now If I try to go to BJ's Wholesale they will not even look at a truck or SUV even if you lifted it and tell you what stock size they can sell you and that's it with them.

I believe it's the same tire. Cooper added extra siping and changed up the side wall and began calling it the 4S. Then there's the other two which are more meant for heavier duty. I don't know that they actually make this exact model actively anymore as it is not on their website. Could be new old stock.

Have a photo mounted on your truck? I know its hardly an increase in diameter but anything over stock size is nice to view. Thanks.

Like others, I upsized my factory trd off road tires to the 265/75r16 SL size. I paid approximately what OP was quoted, and for the price decided to replace the spare as well in case of emergency. Other than some lackluster walmart installation issues, the tires themselves have been great. I got an alignment done at the dealer after install and there were some initial issues with alignment and pulling to the right, but thankfully they were able to fix it.

My observations have been that the noise is only minimally more than stock, the look is much more significant and the tread much deeper than stock, and mileage may have been negatively effected slightly, but not significantly (maybe ~1 mpg).

I think for the price they make a compelling option for OE replacement. One significant thing I will say, I do pull a 5000lb trailer and I think they tow better than stock. I believe their 116T so they have more than enough payload capability, but if you tow a travel trailer or the like my experience has been good.

Here you go! They do come with white outline letters but I elected for the black side out. Also I'm still on stock suspension too

Nice looking tire. Suitable for easy to moderate off-roading?... like forest roads and such? .. not into crawling around and climbing rocks and what-not
but going off-road for boondocking is something I do want to explore -

Thinking about getting these tires in 265/75 x 16. Just want to confirm, there is no rubbing? Also, any change in the speedo with adding these?

You could go balls to the wall and go 33" 255/85/16 without rubbing. Unfortunately not the greatest choice of tires in that size.

How noisy are the Cooper tires, compared to the OEM Goodyear Wranglers?
