turbo KN Filter 3" Lift Kit Rock Sliders TRD Skid plate ProComp 285/75R16, Removed. FJ Wheels w/ 265/70R17 Delay wiper switch 168xxx miles, engine lost compression at cyl 1. Replaced with pulled engine with 63k miles (non Turbo).
    2.7L 2TR-FE : getting codes P0011, P0016, P0101, P0335

Replaced Crankshaft position sensor, Camshaft position sensor, VVT oil filter.

Ordered and received from Toyota VVT solenoid # 11101J; so I removed the solenoid from truck and saw that it was stuck with some type of plastic debris, removed the debris but the shaft still will not move in any direction. obviously bad.

my problem is that on the solenoid from Toyota, the portion that is inserted inside the engine block measure 60mm in depth VS the original that I removed only measure 50mm in depth.
I returned the first part and reordered from another dealer with same result.
Yet no one has been able to tell me if Toyota had upgraded this part and it is safe to insert a longer part inside the engine.

Maybe someone had this issue before or has an answer?

Toyota changed the 2.7L 2TR-FE from single VVT-i to dual VVT-i for the 2016 model.

Perhaps you received the 2016 part?

I have the both diagrams that shows the single VVT-i and double VVT-i, they are the same part number.

    Updates:
Took old part and new part to dealer's service manager.
he did not know so he took them back to his crew chief in back, came back 1/2 hour later with answer that Toyota did upgrade the part, it was safe to install.
installed this morning, cleared all codes. so far runs great + no error code after 20min drive.
