There are filter screens on the front sides of the head for the VVT. Passenger is easiest to get to.

The filter screens you mentioned, are they behind a 4in x4in flat cover held on by 4 bolts? I have codes p0011 and p0012 and just replaced the vvt solonoid but these codes came back again.any ideas, tks

The transponder bypass is probably for an aftermarket remote start.

Those OCV's like to seize like a bastard. Soak them with penetrating fluid prior to removal.

OP, how many miles do you have? If you have a lot of miles and the oil change history is questionable or leans toward neglected I would be thinking about possible timing chain elongation.

You may want to remove the timing chain tensioner inspection plate located on the RH cylinder head at the front of the engine about a 1/4-1/3 of the way from the top. It is a square plate about 3-1/2" that is held on by 4-10mm bolts. It also has a gasket.

Remove the plate and see if you can grab a picture of the tensioner and post it. What we will be looking for is evidence of excessive chain elongation by viewing the length of the plunger. The plunger is a ratcheting affair that moves outward with wear on the chain to keep it tight. As viewed from the front of the engine toward the rear the plunger will come out the right side of the tensioner. Typically a newish chain and timing components will often have around 1/4" of extension and one that has a lot of wear, say 1/2"- 3/4", throw codes.

The torque on those 4 bolts is only 80 inch pounds so be careful when tightening.

I inspected the tensioner plunger and it is out at least 1/2 inch and the last 1/8 inch is shiney like it just recently came out. There is only 127 k on my engine. Also can someone tell me when the vv t solenoid is energized. Is it energized at idle or only when under load conditions
