Hey guys, I have a viper 5704 alarm and remote start. I went to the installation guide and owners manual trying to figure out how to disable the flashing lights that emit from the truck whenever I lock, unlock, or remote start the truck. Basically all I want it to do is to beep when its locked or unlocked. Does anyone has any advice other than tearing into the wiring itself. thanks

Not going to be a software inhibit.
You'd have to disconnect the wire that feeds the lights... but then they won't flash when the alarm is triggered.

I think I'm okay with that. I've just been having issues with my side marker lights not coming on but when I lightly flick them with with my finger they come on. The only thing I can think of that's making them act this way is the excess flashing they do whenever I unlock or lock my doors may be taking its toll on the lights

Doubtful they are being taxed at all..........I've never had that issue on a vehicle with an alarm.

Take the bulbs out of the longer housing that they are in. Make sure the housing is not plugged into the harness..... look at the contacts (lil prongs) on the inside of that long housing where it makes contact with the bulbs. U may wanna take a small flat tip driver and bend the prongs carefully inward.....

This makes the contact area more consistent.... I've seen the contact legs on the plastichousing open up a little after bulb changes.....this little procedure of "closing them some" made the corner lights work flawlessly every time after that.

Its super easy............much easier than finding a relay that the alarm taps into, or possibly manipulating the outside illumination codes.

    Try it and get back.

U stated tapping them makes them come on...........that's a poor contact imho.....loose wire, bad ground............or more than likely the above contacts I pointed too have just worked their way open and are holding the bulb loosely. Then u tap/smack the area and the bulb may move a tiny bit, and that tiny bit moves the bulbs legs and the bulb holders contacts meet up again.

Btw, those little amber bulbs just pull straight out of that longer white plastic housing....

Just in case u have never taken em out before.....the initial step is, disconnect the wire harness, then twist the housing (counterclockwise I think), then pull the long plastic housing (bulb holder) and bulb out of the headlighs in 1 piece.

Then like I said, pull the little bulb straight out of the holder....no twisting needed

10-4 ill give that a shot. It's ironic to me they are both doing it at the same time. Anything electrical is very frustrating for me. I will keep you posted

That definitely sounds like a bad connection somewhere rather than an issue with the alarm. If you've confirmed the bulbs have good connections and the problem persists, PM me. I installed my 5704 system and might be able to help you do something on the alarm side. But honestly, it sounds like you have a bad connection at the bulbs.
