So, I picked up another dashcam from VIOFO. I really liked the quality and price of the A229. It was good but I really did want one without a screen. I decided to upgrade to the 4K 3ch A139, this is VIOFO’s newest model. I thought I would give it a try with the 4k front and 1080p interior and rear camera.

The plan is to move my A229 to my van and install the A139 in the Xrunner.

The install is mostly the same as the A229 but there is an additional camera to install in the front. Unfortunately, the coax cable for the rear camera is different between the two so I needed to completely uninstall the A229. I also purchased A slightly different hardwire kit. The kit is the same as the A229 but this one has a straight USB-C connector. I did this for better cable management as a 90° connector would not work very well.

I have been using the camera for a few weeks now and it is working perfectly. I did need to adjust the exposure on the front camera as it is slightly darker than I like. This was an easy adjustment as you can set each camera separately in the settings.

    I picked mine up on the VIOFO website here;
    VIOFO - A139 PRO 3CH

With the HK3 the price came out to $386 with free shipping.

You can also buy the 2 channel one on Amazon.

If you want to hardwire it you will need to pick up the hK3 kit as well

I could not find the 3 channel listed on amazon.

As always, I did some videos showing the camera, what you get, and the settings/menus. I always like to go over the complete settings so people can see if the setup will work for them.

I did not go over the wiring and running the rear cable as that can be found in the A229 video here.

Here are some videos of the A139 Pro 3ch

    Driving footage.

Even with the 3 wires I managed to get a nice clean install. I am really happy with how it came out. I positioned the main camera to be completely hidden behind the rearview mirror. Also, the layout of the camera lets me get it the actual lens in the center of the truck. Every other camera I had would be off center slightly.

Some pros and cons that I found.

    Pros

No screen - I rather use my phone or android radio - some may disagree

Supports H.265 recording (how to change format - stop recording and then hold the mic button for 2 seconds until it beeps)

Built-in dual-band WiFi 5g fast downloads - I tested a few 5 minute clips and it was pretty quick

    Triple-channel (front, rear and interior)

Can turn off IR led for the interior camera to use the camera as a side view or somewhere else.

Option to buy 1, 2, or 3 channels you can buy the front only and ad on later as needed.

Uses the 3-Wire Hardwiring Kit for true parking mode

    Slimmer cables

    Cons

Had to adjust some settings. The factory image was a little dark when installed. I adjusted the exposure and the image got brighter.

Can’t reuse rear cable, the new one has a thinner connection.

You have 3 cables to run to the cameras.

Only 24fps on true 4k with 3 cams.

    Specs from VIOFO.com

    2K 1440P 60fps (Front) [No HDR] + 1080P 30fps (Interior or Rear)
    2K 1440P 30fps (Front) + 1080P 30fps (Interior or Rear)

    1-channel video resolution options:
    4K 2160P 30fps (Front)

Still waiting for 4k 60fps they have it on go pro’s why not a dash cam?

So, has anyone else tried this camera? I curious as to what others think of this or if they have had any issues.
