I recently got new wheels and tires, 16x8 KMC KM301 Turbines with 265/75r16 Nitto Ridge Grapplers, and I got them mounted and balanced and put on my 2011 trd sport, and on the highway, when I get up to 60-65 mph I get a heavy vibration that shakes my entire truck. I thought it might be the alignment, but even after a realignment, the vibration is still really bad.

Do you guys know what could be causing this? Do I just need to get my tires rebalanced?

Go some place that knows how to balance tires/wheels. Are they Hub Centric wheels?

They're lug centric, and I'm worried that that is the issue, because there's not much I can do about it. I went to a local small shop, so it is possible that they screwed up my balancing, I'm gonna go in and ask them to redo it.

I would did they use stick on weights or bang on?

Last fall I put on new rims and wheels, between 50-60 plus shook bad. Went back told the guy who balanced And set up the tires. He gave me the need to replace this and that speech.

when I rotated them this spring, I took them off, put on my factory and drove it. Smooth as could be, took the new setup somewhere different to be balanced. They removed all the weights from the first balance and used way more around the tire. It still had a little bit of shaking, but is more from 45 to 65 and no where near as hard to drive with.

    get those tires rebalanced

Alright I’ll definitely get them rebalanced. You don’t think that shaking is causing any damage? I’m just afraid that one of my wheels is about to fall off on the highway

Took it to the shop and they said it's common on toyota trucks, and that they'll try rebalancing them but they have to pick up some 1oz sandbags that they put on the wheel. Never heard of anything like that, any of u guys ever had that done before?

Run and go to another place. I have very aggressive heavy Cooper STT Pro's and I never have a vibration if the person knows what they are doing. Nothing common about it, just means they suck at tire balancing.

It’s only common for them, find a tire place, the small local guys don’t have the right equipment. I tried to use the local guy, he fucked it up.

I don’t think my shaking screwed up anything, but I didn’t drive that speed on a daily thing. Took me almost a year to put on 5k miles.

If you still have the stock setup, slap that back on, go find a tire warehouse or big tire shop, pay them to re balance them.

Proper way to balance a tacoma wheel is using the Haweka adapter and then road force balance . Its in the factory repair manual .

And a place like TownFairTire would have that Haweka adapter and everything? I just called my local place and they said they will rebalance for free and if that doesn't work then I'm taking it to TFT

OP did you ever get this figured out? Is it possible that you need some hubcentric rings to get the shaking to go away?

OP, did you ever get this fixed? my son put these same rims on his toyota forerunner and has the same problem. We have had the tired balanced multiple times at a tire shop and not fixed. The truck is now at our local mechanic and he said the balancing was fine and its something else but can't figure out what yet! I still think its the new rims. we can't put the old one back on as they were tossed. Would love to hear your solution?

Those specific rims are NOT hubcentric. What he can do is tighten the wheel when they are in the air to see if it goes away. That will allow the lug to center them as much as possible. If not, then he might need a set of hubcentric rings. I believe it's 108mm to 106mm. Make sure the wheel is balanced before you try any of those or else you're wasting your time.
