Hello everyone. I know there are hundreds of threads involving this same issue, but I am completely stumped. I have a 2001 4door V6 4x4 Auto Taco. My truck will drive just fine up until about 65 mph. The vibration is really pronounced around 70mph, but begins to smooth out (slightly) around 80 mph. The vibration is felt mostly through the steering wheel and center console. Here’s a list of things I’ve replaced.
    -lower ball joints
    -upper ball joints
    -front struts and rear shocks
-1 inch level on the front
    -steering rack & bushings
    -tie rod ends
    -front wheel bearings
    -both CV axles
-all U-Joints on rear driveshaft with exception of the double cardan joint
    -driveshaft support bearing (carrier)
-285/70/17 BFG K02, have aftermarket 17 inch discount tire specials on the truck
-front brakes (new rotors & pads)
    -static wheel balance
-serviced both differentials and t case 20k miles ago
-transmission was serviced 40k miles ago

    Thank you in advance!

I get the exact same thing. Once I hit 65mph it comes on but when I get to 75mph it smoothes out. It's almost like a side to side movement/rumble.

Same here. Can watch my hand vibrate like crazy on the steering wheel from 65 - 70...once I hit 75 it's smooth again. Just sorta got used to it I guess, though I do know I need to replace my carrier bearing soon.

I think the third gen guys have this as well and it seems like it's from the driveshaft. I think some upgraded to a single piece and it went away.

Figure out the speed you want to drive at then find a tire shop that can balance the tires at that speed .

Some have had good luck with the beads but if you start and stop all the time it is not the best idea.

Have you had it aligned? Probably not the problem but maybe, that’s a lot of front end work and probably should be done.

I heard of the Toad Force Balance dismounting has to be by Robot in a Vacuum sealed container all the air in the container goes as Hazmat so it tends to be real expensive.

+1 on alignment. Do you have a current alignment sheet? What are your numbers?

The vibrations I got around 65 were so bad they were kinda frightening and I could not tell where it was coming from. Did the center bearing, tire rotations and rebalancing. Nothing helped. Turned out that the rear shocks were totally sacked out and the wind hitting the tonneau started a pogo effect. Set of new Monroe’s fixed me right up.

I see you did upper and lower ball joints. Have you done upper and lower control arm bushings? They are a bit of work, but @145k on my 2001, they were toast.

What CV axles did you go with on your replacements? I have a similar vibration after about the same list of updates that you have, but I suspect it's Import Direct CV axles I used. The location I bought them from struggled to get the right part number to me, and when they did, the box looked to have been thrown around and the outer dust shield / seal was slightly deformed.

easy way to check the UCA bushings - jack up the front end and push on the top of the tire...if the whole wheel has in/out play up top, the control arm bushings are toast. That's how I was able to see that mine were bad.

Having this same problem, I have 1 year old shocks, fresh alignment, and solid ball joints so I'm not sure either. Leaf springs look a little worn though so might replace those soon and see what happens

That's pretty normal for my wide tacoma.

Luckily the gearing is just right so I hit that 3000 rpm sweet spot in fifth at 75 so it does 80 no problem.

on my 2018 Tacoma owners manual. Page 631 There is a message regarding transmission fliud, and vibrations. I suspect the vibration is coming from the tranny. it just my thoughts My was doing the same thing with 26,000 miles. When I drive hard it does not do it.

Toytec coilovers. Height adjustable Bilstein's. 265/75/16 MT. TRD wheels. Rebuilt r150f. Marlin clutch kit. All kinds of new parts...
I had a similar issues. I recently replaced a lot of things in the front end. Wheel bearings, ball joints, rack and pinion. It was the control arm bushings. Got some JBA UCA and replaced the LCA bushings with Whitelines. Smooth as a cadillac at all speeds now. And it's lifted on Toytec coilovers. In the past I replaced carrier bearing and had the driveline rebuilt (all u-joints). The bushings in the UCA and LCA were the most alarming. At 200K they seemed ok but once I took them off they were easy to move around.

May the Toad be with you.

I just bought a 99 V6 4WD M/T with 220k on it and had this exact issue at around 70 mph in 4th. Since it's new to me I'm not sure where to begin to start fixing the issue -- where's the best place to start?

I also don't own a jack or jack stands so I guess it's time to start outfitting the garage.
