Vehicle Locked/Unlocked Red Dash Light

Anyway, there's a light on the Dash just to the left of the Passenger Air Bag light, that Blinks an Icon of a Car and a Lock in Red when the Truck is unlocked and stays on in solid Red when the doors are locked. Is this typical of all 2021 TRD Off-road models?
Kind of annoying actually.

 

It means your factory alarm is armed. Anything with a factory installed alarm uses it.

 

Immobilizer light, car wont start if its on.

 

It starts just fine. Haven't tried to start with the doors locked and the light on Solid Red and not flashing however.

 

It turns off when the smart key is in the truck.

If its on when the key is out, it means its working.

 

My 2021 TRD Sport has it too. I barely even notice the light.

I was setting in the truck with the Smart Key and it was on. I actually locked the doors with the Button on the key. I didn't start it and check though.
The reason I'm asking about all of this, is that my Wife sent this same picture of the light to the Dealership and the Salesman said that it needs to come into the Service Department.
Makes no sense, but hey, they're just Salesman.

 

What I've noticed, after the doors are locked, that light stays on for about 25-30 sec, then it starts to blink thereafter. After a certain period, the blinking slows down to conserve battery.

Why is this an “annoying” feature? Just curious.

 

That light goes back a long way. I have it in my 2000 Ford Ranger. All it means is that the PATS (Passive Antitheft System) is working.

 

Because it's annoying my Wife.

 

Time for a new one

 

Made my day easier once having that flashing light on dash. We had taken a little boat out on this lake and were paddling around and lost track of time. It was overcast so when sun set it was absolutely pitch black and of course no flashlights. We randomly rowed around for a while looking for truck and for some reason something caught the corner of my eye, so we started looking for it again. We both eventually could focus on the fact we could see this intermittently flashing red light across the lake. Luckily truck was on an incline facing away so we were seeing the light flashing through the rear window. Rowed right to the truck after that

 

Quick fix.. 1x1 black tape

 

It goes out when you start the truck and drive it
