Man these last few weeks since we picked up our drifter have been grinders! Rather than building out our camper over time as we did with the flippac I am doing my best to get it built out back to where it was prior to selling the flippac. This has proven to be no small feat.

Its been a lot of hours and I'm nearing the finish line for the main stuff. I have tons of photos but just haven't made time to post them here a long the way. hopefully within the next couple weeks ill quit being a hermit and do a big photo dump/build update :D

maybe I should just finally start my build thread...

This isn't a lift gate or barn doors, but still a good solution to keep the dust out and provide an easier entry into the Drifter.

Little this. Little that 4x4 Swap’d PreRunner
I’m sure they have reasons why an upright door was on a prototype and not the production model. I’ll let them speak to that though, as I don’t know enough of the R&D.

But to me looking in, the door is skinny, doesn’t allow full width use of the bed on entry and having the ability for slideout fridges and cabinet access from the back. Using the tailgate allows for full width access. Phil had a 4WC before and the version that Jon Burt uses, if the final version doesn’t have a door, I’m sure there’s a reason.

We are really looking into making the barn doors a viable option. There’s a few challenges we are addressing like making them backwards compatible.

I would not want a barn door, I do not think you can use the tail gate when using a barn door. I love having the tail gate as a platform to sit, cook, fix stuff, etc..

You are correct. A barn doors or a hatch door like my V1 would remove the tailgate.

You could retro fit one, that’s what I did on my v1. Just fabricated the lower door half and bolted it to upper.

    Here’s some crappy blurry photos...

My fab skills are horrendous. I wouldn’t trust my abilities to get that kind of job done.

But I may make a go of it for science...

    Drifter....ARRIVED!
NVLocal - WOW! That looks absolutely amazing. Did you carpet the inside of the drifter yourself? And is that Goose Gear? Where do you anticipate pup will sleep? Thanks for sharing.

The carpet was done at the builder. No goose gear here, just my own contraption. ;)

The pup sleeps right above the fridge.

I lack fab skills too. I really want a lift gate or barn doors on my Drifter. I hope that an option for either one is available for my build next batch!
