I just bought a full set of 4 V-Bar Snow Chains by Glacier Chains and Quick Grip V-Bar Security Chain Company (a pair from Glacier at the back and a pair of SCC chains at the front). My tires are Toyo Open Country AT2 285/75R16

Both companies use the same or similar model numbers for their chains. I suspect they are made by the same manufacturer.

Anyway, I I ordered the H2828 (H2828SC / QC2828) model because I thought that’s what would fit according to the research I did. Well, the chains are ever-so-slightly too small. I can get them on but I can barely get them to hook together, let alone operate the cam to tighten them. I’ve done chains before and I can tell these are way too close to the edge of the tire. They obviously l need to be tad bit bigger to extend down the tire sidewall a bit more and allow me to hook them up and tighten them.

I’m going to email both companies now, but I was curious as to what chain model number you guy are running on 285/75/R16 and 285/70/R17 since those are such popular tire sizes here. Somebody here must know for sure.

    Thanks
