A similar thing happened to me. It was a very small item (SSD drive from B&H NY) destined for a small town in NE La. It arrived in a DFW sorting facility within 2 days, tracked it east to a hub in SHV (La), sat there for a couple days (we are about 100 mi due east of SHV on I-20 so it looked promising), but then it went back southwest to TX (Houston this time), sat there for 2 days, then was routed back north to DFW, then back to SHV, then finally arrived at destined address after 2 weeks. The packaging folded easily so whatever scanner the sorting system used probably did not scan it properly and got kicked around.

    hahah gotta love USPS..

I ordered two t-shirts last summer from Ames IA to Southern Maine. Total travel time? 64 days!!!

I wish I had taken some screen shots of the tracking. First time it made it all the way to my town, but got sent back for no reason at all. No one at the post office or the online USPS "help" could tell me why.. 2nd time they lost it for over a week somewhere in Mass I think it was. After that I always use UPS or FedEx if possible

All the carriers are getting shitty. Usps and ups really piss me off.

I think Amazon is the most consistent for getting stuff to me on time. They have been doing this for less time than the other carriers.

I've seen my same packages fly overhead (NY) from PA to MA many times over. I'm wondering why USPS can't make money or need to threaten to work Sundays. My ratings (so far)
    1. Prime
    2. FedEx (ground)
    3. Fedex
    4. UPS
    ...
    10. USPS

Same issue here. Had to send some closing documents for land I was selling to the attorney's office that was about a two hour drive away. Sent them USPS Priority Express and they took 9 days to get there, while traveling through and sitting in 4 different cities along their journey. Closing was delayed several days as a result. I will never use USPS again until they straighten out their issues and get rid of that DeJoy clown.

I could never figure the usps delivery systems madness, how packages from the western u.s are shipped to a distribution ctr to a state just north of me an hr. away, and then sent 2 more states northeast to another distribution ctr, before coming back to my state 1 1/2 hrs away from where i live till its shipped to my local post office. Seems these packages have to spend an extra 2-3 days traveling around new england before they arrive at my home where they were once just an hour away.

Happens all the time. Worst example I’ve had is this one. Just disappeared for a month and half (it was 1-3 day priority mail, ha!). I really wish people would stop using them and opt for FedEx or UPS. We have much better luck with them.

Sup fellow Brohioan. I have similar issues with the local FedEx sorter. They will hold my packages because "it won't fit on their truck." I guess they use smaller trucks in rural areas.

This is the tracking from an order last year. DHL international w/USPS hand-off. London UK to Peru, Indiana. It was a pair of watch band half links (£25) so not a lot of money, but by the time they answered the lost package issue the links were out of stock. Finally received the original package just before Christmas, dirty beat-up and torn open...nothing inside.

    4 months and 10,000 miles

Funny, just received a package that went an unusual route also. I am older and have used USPS my entire life, along with my business and I rarely, ever, have had an issue with them. For a small fee, a letter/small package will go from one coast to another in a couple days and placed in your mailbox, kind of amazing when you really think about it. Obviously, tech and competition has changed all that, but no complaints here with the USPS, it has served us well for 65 years.

Its good to see others have these issues. Its as funny as it is irritating.

Next, usps will be trying to charge me more for shipping since my package go sight seeing.

Oh it was great until two years ago when DeJoy was appointed and promptly (purposely) screwed up the entire operation. Can't wait for him to go.

Another story - Christmas 2020 - I sent a package of gifts to my sister (4 hours away) via UPS around December 15 - took 2 days. She sent our gifts on or about the same day via USPS. Took over two weeks. It's a mess and will continue to be until we get a new Postmaster General.

I opened a case with one of the postal inspectors for a GoPro I sold and shipped. It traveled all over the country for a long time and the buyer was getting (justifiably) anxious. I was told the mail gets batched into big lots and travels around like that because it's cheaper. Eventually it gets put in a batch that's going to it's destination. I guess like a city transit system that you have to keep changing buses to get where you need to go. Sounds archaic, which, I guess, is what the USPS is.
