I am buying a camper with a max coupler. i read online better to use locks instead of hitch pins. can someone point me to a lock that would be suitable for this job?

Remains to be seen I bought the tires and wheels the rest came along
Search locking hitch pins many to choose from.

remember always carry what you need to remove the locking pin when it will not unlock.

I have a fully articulating hitch and a standard shank and barrel lock that you can pick up from any auto parts or home improvement store’s trailer section will do the trick. If I remember correctly, I bought 5/8 in locking pins. The pic below was to document my generator for insurance purposes but you can see the locking pins on my rig (and one not pictured). I have a locking pin…
    1. On my Taco’s receiver that locks the tongue and female end of the coupler to the Taco
    2. On the trailer where the male part of the articulating hitch joins the female end
    3. On the trailer that secures the male coupler to the trailer
One thing to note is that locking pins are not tapered so it is a bitch getting the pin into the trailer if it isn’t perfectly lined up. For this reason I keep a t-handle hitch pin as a backup and since it is tapered I can get the trailer close enough that the tapered t-pin will go through, then I remove it partially and insert the locking pin.

    Hope this helps.

Remember, you can always use Grade 8 bolts. Not lockable, obviously, but strong enough to do the job.
