Hoping some of you can help me figure out how much to pay for a Snug top. The seller claims the retail is 2400.00. Seller is asking 1100.00 and she's also including a full bedrug and leaf springs which she claims are needed to level out truck and compensate for weight of shell. I've never heard anything about needing leaf springs for a Snug top.

Anyway...is this good for 1100? She mentioned there is wiggle room so I'm going to offer 900.00.

Any feedback, advice is greatly appreciated. Also...anyone know specifically what model of Snug this is?

Get very detailed info on the springs. A fiberglass topper will lower the rear of a stock Tacoma. I put Firestone Ride Rite airbags on for mine - and was very happy with them.

I paid $450 for my used topper in fairly good condition. Go to the Snugtop website and look at new prices.

I don't believe the $2400 claim, I just paid $2600 for a brand new Snugtop Hi Liner Sport (taller than cab) for a long bed truck optioned out with dual sliding windoors, fold down front window, lock upgrade, and full carpeting inside. That looks like a shortbed with way fewer options. That said $1000 is probably ballpark if it's in good shape.

Doesn't seem like a bad deal. The new ones go for $2200 otd ( give or take depending on city). Really depends on condition.

Have you checked out other manufacturers as well?

Thanks for all your replies. Very helpful.

I just called a local dealer - who quoted me 1629.00 for the base Rebel Snug which includes:
    • Carpeted lining
    • Sliding side windows
    • Fold-up rear window
    • Rear-brake light \ Interior light
    • Solid front window (where the top meets the back of the cab)
    • + Labor charge for 95.00 - Install?
Additionally, I chose to get a quote for:
    • Front Fold-down slider on shell - 129.00
    • Yakima rack and Snugtop Tracks - 399.00

I specifically asked if the Tacoma requires stiffened springs to accommodate for the added weight. I was told absolutely not and that he Snug only adds tops 150-200 LBS. So I am hearing conflicting recommendations about this requirement.

Yikes. This gets pricey quickly. The used ones are suddenly looking sweet :)

I'm starting to think that you're right. The used ones are about half of what I'd pay new. No, haven't looked at others since Snug is what was for sale in my area. If I'm not mistaken...Snug is a solid brand, no?

I think you got a very good price. As you can see from my quote - it's ~2400.00

Assuming its a rebel and in good condition and you can get it for 1K, maybe even $900... well I would go for it.

Your has roof racks, OP's doesn't. That makes all the difference. I was going to get racks but it was another $500 and I figured I'd wait until I established a need.

short bed Snugtop Rebel weighs 250# (I called them to ask) A good condition Rebel for $1000 is fair.

The windows are the weak point, so look for signs of previous leaks. Small ones can be fixed by tightening the mounting bolts, but the windows are MIM and the QC is crap. I had two windows replaced within the first week.

I just learned from this seller that the Snug doesn't have an inside window - the one which corresponds with the back window of the cab. I'm told this is an option and when chosen there is a gasket which seals the gap between the Snug and the cab. Does anyone know if this is legit? She said her husband ordered it like this but it seem weird. I'm looking on the Snug site not for this option but wanted to see what you all thought.

Not much on mods - Leer 180, TRD wheels, Mobtown sliders, rear hitch, helper springs on the rear
That feature is referred to as a pass-through window in my neck of woods.

Yep, snugs are considered to be upscale. Kind of a Lance, but not quite airstream type deal. I've had two.

My 2014 came with a Hi Liner Sport right off the bat. I ordered the truck through a broker and he lined out the shell. I think I paid a little over 2K (everything was discounted from msrp. A good broker is the bomb.)

So regarding the leaf springs: my topper is taller and therefore heavier than the one you're looking at. With stock springs it was fine.

Until I got my trailer. Once the trailer tongue weight had a good chance to bottom out the stock leaf pack it sagged a little even without trailer. I think that if the topper is going to be for convenience and whatever but you aren't heading toward a trailer or other heavy carrying activities you might be just fine with your stock leaf packs.

Oh, and BTW; my topper has a sliding window in front, but no snorkel thing. You can get one without the other.
