The USB port on my 2018 TRD Off Road stopped charging my iPhone today. It had been going on and off the last couple days and stopped working entirely today. I tried using a brand new Apple cable and still nada. Switched to the cigarette lighter port and it charges fine. Anyone have similar problem with the USB?

It has a self-resetting overload sensor. It can not deliver enough current for the latest I-phone. It will reset itself, but you need a USB cigarette lighter adapter (unfortunately)

the stock usb is useless for charging. too low amprage (700 mA if I remember correctly). just use the 12volt with an adapter that has 2amp ports

I started having this issue....then I realized I had to unlock my phone with the 5 digit code or fingerprint after it was plugged in with the truck key on and it would charge.
    Try that.

The phone has been unlocked. I'll just have to stick with the cigarette lighter based on the consensus that the USB port doesn't seem to have enough juice to power the iPhone

So it looks like the USB port is totally dead. I put a USB drive in there that had a couple images on it to change the image on my screen and the port doesn’t even see the USB drive. First thought was maybe a fuse. Anyone know which fuse controls he USB port?

There is no fuse, it’s wired to the headunit directly. So either headunit is messsed up, or wiring.

I have a dual USB charger in the center console and run my cable out from there cuz it looks cleaner to me than wires coming from the dash. The console has a channel for charger cords in the lid, easy fix. I Bluetooth all my music because all USB slots eventually fail at some point. Replacing a USB charger is cheap.

Hope it goes well and let us know what the dealer says

Just got back from the dealership and they couldn’t replicate the problem. The USB port was all of a sudden working again... It was totally dead as of this morning when I took it to the dealer and I even tried three different cables (one was a brand new cable from Apple). Oh well, I guess the important thing is that it’s working again...

I had the same thing. The reset time is either very long, or you need a certain sequence of events regarding the ignition to reset it.

Since I stopped trying to charge anything with it, it’s been all good.
