I've looked at their 16x10's several times but I keep getting told that even 17" steel wheels won't fit because they hit the calipers. Really interested to see if they work for ya.

I think the caliper issue is real, but it's possible that the "new for 2019" lineup might have addressed it. Their configurator shows that the steelies are now an option, but it does have the disclaimer to check fitment.

That being said, you could call and ask if they fit a stock truck now. They would know if they recently made changes.

Gave them a call and they wouldn't guarantee fitment on specific vehicles as expected. They gave me the inside diameter of the 16x7's as being 14.22" and the same wheel in 17x8 as 15.47". Haven't had a chance to take good measurements on the OEM wheel and brakes, but by eyeball it looks like the 17's would clear fine, might need a spacer depending on the spokes. The 16's will be close but they just might squeak in there. Spacers likely necessary. We shall see!

Pathetic on US Wheel's part. If you can't tell me that your wheels will fit on a stock vehicle, you shouldn't be offering it for my vehicle.

My gut feeling is that it will fit. My experience with this is that alloy 16s have fitment issues due to the increased thickness of the metal. Point on any section of a wheel and the material is always much thicker on an alloy wheel than its steel counter part. SR wheels are 16" steelies

I'd tend to agree with you on that one. Suppose you can't expect much more in this day and age though.

Based on some rough measurements I've taken of the stock OR wheels and brakes I'm reasonably confident that they'll fit as well. What you say makes sense though for sure.

Is there any update to the rims? Its almost been a month. I was just going to post up about them but decided to search first. :hattip:

The problem with the steel rims stems from the stamping design/mold. The stock tacoma steel rims have a flair or bulge by the hub/lug nuts. All the aftermarket steel rims come straight in to the hub causing interference with the caliper. You would think after 20 years of 2nd gen and 3rd gens somebody would have solved this problem.

I'm still waiting on delivery. Factory is saying they should ship in the next week or so, and I'll send an update with pics, etc. once they arrive. I'm fully expecting to need to install some spacers if they fit otherwise, but we shall see.

And the wheels are in! Will post pics when I get a chance to test fit.

Looking forward to pics. Why do we want steel wheels?

Cost, strength, personal preference. Could be any number of reasons.

I entered the info on Willtheyfit.com and came up with this. This is compared to my steel wheels and tires on my 2019 SR. It says they will be 25mm futher from the struts and the wheel will stick out 25mm more. I don't see no reason why they will not fit. This is taking my tires I have on now and putting them on those rims with the 0 offset. Screenshot_2018-12-18 Will They Fit - Online Wheel and Tyre Fitment Calculator.jpg

Also those wheels are not hub centric if that matters to you.

Well from what I have seen not all steel wheels are the same and willtheyfit.com says nothing about the design of the wheel. They way steel wheels are designed you cant get the wheel all the way on the studs due to contact with the caliper.

Guess he could just order 1 wheel and see if it fits then.

Really just wanted a good looking set of steelies that I can use for a dedicated set of winter tires/wheels. And didn't want to break the bank on a set of wheels that will see plenty of winters and road salt either. These ones are powdercoated also so that's a plus at only $125 a pop, and the fact that they're robust and strong is good for having some winter fun.

My fitment concerns are indeed in regards to the calipers up front and whether the spokes angle out aggressively enough to clear them as @JoeCOVA mentioned. Might just need a set of spacers which wouldn't be a big deal.

And yeah, not quite hub centric. However, a couple millimeters off obviously isn't much, and there are center caps that get installed in the wheel bore that might take up a little of that gap. If I feel like it I might experiment with using some hub centric rings if I feel it's necessary and I can find some that will work.

Here are a couple pics of the wheels themselves that I took last night. Good quality for the price for sure as far as I can tell. They're two piece wheels, and the welds inside appear to be high quality as well. Only thing I've noticed is that the hole for the valve stems on this wheel is positioned such that it might make it tricky for me to get a good seal, at least for the clamp-in, programmable Autel MX Sensors I bought to use with them. Might just need to find a fatter grommet.

    All the things!
"Stealth"? That center cap is anything but stealthy. Why the hell is that so big?
