hey guys, I recently noticed during some work that I have a really slight oil leak on the passenger side of my v62007 taco. It is higher up in the engine so its not my drain pan. My coolant level hasn't lowered and my coolnat is still a good pinkncoler so I don't think that is leaking as well. Any ideas on what it could be? I think its a gaskey but don't know which one it would be.

Check the timing chain tensioner inspection plate located on the passenger side head in the front. It’s about 4 x 4 inch. The metal gasket is prone to seeping and can make what looks like large mess over time. Another spot prone to leaking is where the head, block and timing cover meet. It forms a kind of T junction. Very time consuming to replace. If not leaking bad consider it rust proofing. Or it could be the valve cover gaskets as said in last post. Start off by cleaning the area while looking for obvious leaks and watching over time. Mine was very obviously leaking from the inspection plate.

Timing cover leak is extremely common on the 4.0, its usually behind the power steering pump.

Not sure on the V6, but the 4 banger in mine did this about a year ago..oil pressure sending unit, cost about $125 at the local shop I use. Same location you mention but that could be different for you

D89FBCBD-28B8-4B54-8AED-DAC625F670BB.jpgWhile y’all are on the subject I saw my valve cover leak but also noticed it looks like a thin film of oil being blown out of the vent tube that ties to the intake. PCV valve bad maybe? I’m a parts changer not a diagnoser.

Now that you mention it I don’t think I noticed it until after then. I’ve read about quite a few members using it. The most repeated downside, depending on the person, is how loud it is. No complaints about this though.

7500 or so. It dosent seem to have gotten worse sense I noticed it so I’ll clean the cover when I replace the gasket and see what it happens.
