Hello, my name is Vince. I am going to change my upper and lower control arms and am wondering if there are any issues with removing the bushing bolts. Thanks in advance.

Tried them and found only stuff on upgrading. One said there was an issue of hitting the body and not being able to remove, but no year was given and it was for several different models of tacoma. Answer if you can dont point to obvious things I could check. Nothing on tw after an hour search.

05-15 are all the same. Bend the sheet metal out of the way until the bolt clears, no year and model needed.

About to replace UCAs myself, so just went through the searching exercise and was able to find plenty of useful info to go off of (hence why I just named a couple areas to begin your search).

Fun fact, no amount of bending was going to get the bolt out of mine. 3 people tried it. Your results may vary, but mine had to be cut off. So be prepared to cut if necessary.

As much as I am a huge proponent of following what the book says, I installed mine in the reverse :anonymous: My thinking is the bolt is installed with the head facing down so if the nut were to ever come loose or fall off the bolt might work its way down and out via vibrations. I come from an aircraft mechanic background which is something I was taught to keep in mind so I just pushed that rule onto my vehicles. Ultimately, it's your vehicle and hardware should go back in the same way as it was removed but I believe they installed the suspension prior to the body panels going on. You could remove the side fenders and not have to deal with bending sheet metal like most of us have done but that's a whole new can of worms.

It’s a pain but everyone of them will come out without cutting the bolt, you got the new bolt in correct if it went in the old one will come out.

I'm fairly sure he was referring to bending the sheet metal wasn't going to work on his truck on getting the bolt out, not bending the bolt to get the bolt out.

Don't be too sure. No one mentioned bending the bolt.

You're correct, no one mentioned bending the bolt - they mentioned cutting the bolt.
