Got lucky and found a Pre-Owned TRD pro grille with all the tabs and OEM……

I have Radar on my 21 TRD Sport, so that will transfer over

but I’m short the Radar “cover”, the additional piece required…..the “Garnish”

almost had a heart attack when I tried to find an OEM one….$380……

So TW, any major difference between OEM ($380) and Aftermarket ($40) ones I should be concerned with

    thanks in advance

Brightness of the grille pattern on the garnish, is the only practical difference. That and ~$350. Having held both in my hands and used both on my truck; that's my conclusion anyway.

On the Toyota garnish, the grille pattern is a darker silver. On the aftermarket garnish, it's a light-ish silver.

Unless you're OCD for details like that, buy the aftermarket version and save the difference. Just my $0.02

About had heart failure when I saw Toyota's price for the TSS garnish as well. I guess the consensus is that they're trying to control the aftermarket grille business. Hurts their own customers IMHO though.

So I'm planning on updating our grille as well and I've been researching the same thing (for too long now). Looks like there are "cheap" aftermarket TSS garnish replacements, some that fall apart pretty quickly and as @blu92in99 mentions, don't look as nice and some pretty decent ones with guarantees. I've settled on this one from Taco Garage: Looks much nicer than some of the Amazon and eBay knock-offs plus they install it on their own grilles for a little more so it should blend in well. They have some very good DIY videos that address installing the garnish - what to do and NOT do - too.

I ordered my grille (getting a 2022 OEM SR5 Trail Edition) from Toyota and the TSS garnish from Taco Garage today. I'll post back with results!

Did you ever end up installing the grille?

Nice. Thought about red lettering, but it looked a little too matchy, matchy, in your face... for me that is. I think the bronze color looks little classier and compliments our red. I posted when I installed it on another thread, but completely forgot to post it here as promised. :anonymous:

Does anyone know where I could get a black grille surround for cheap. I’m currently trying to make the switch but I am going from all chrome to the all black and do not have a black surround. Any help will be greatly appreciated!

I've had both, the aftermarket garnish and now the OEM one. The aftermarket ones have an off color that really bugged me. I also got TSS unavailable errors when driving through heavy rain and assumed it was normal.

With the OEM garnish, I never got those errors and the look is much better.

Don't blame you. The OE color is better than most of the aftermarket's. Our Taco Garage TSS garnish looks to be as close as any out there. So far in all driving conditions I haven't had any warnings or issues at all. :fingerscrossed:

I think 99% of the aftermarket ones comes from the same factory!

Probably so. I've seen others that are basically bright silver and black. The one I received from Taco Garage is toned down quite a bit. Not quite as dark as OE though.

Almost 2 years on my full chinesium grille/garnish without any real issues. Once in awhile it's fault out radar unavailable for a few seconds ds then it's gone but that's rare.
