I recently wreck my beloved 2006 Tacoma. I need a new grille. I know the OEM replacement is this 53100-04360 but I'd really like to get this grille 53100-04420 instead. I like the styling better. I've been looking it up and can't find any info on if it would fit my truck. I know the difference between the 2nd gen and the 2.5 gen. Toyota parts guy says it's for 2010 and 2011 Tacomas. Does anyone have experience trying to use this 420 grille in place of the 360 grille?

The same shit everyone else has.
The new one is a honeycomb grille eh?

That’s an ‘11 only piece, but it’ll fit any ‘05-‘11.

I like it.....I'd like to think it would fit. I called a couple Toyota Dealers and they always advise against these types of requests. I'm also pretty convinced I'm gonna get a scooped hood where mine never had that before. I wish Toyota supported these ideas. Thanks for the input I'm gonna go for it. I'll post photos this summer.

Any ‘05-‘11 grille will fit your 2nd gen (non facelift) truck.

The best grill is probably TRD Pro style with 4 insert amber LED lights to help reduce the amount of Hyundai pilots that turn sideways in front of you in a 45mph zone when it is not free and clear to do so

Hopefully I'll have the Desert Sand Mica version this summer. I dont think I'll color match the grille, I might keep the scoop black and have the bumper painted with the lower middle area blacked out. I'm really just trying to turn a bummer of a wreck into a reason to do some of the things I didn't think I'd have done other wise.

My next question is about fenders. Where do y'all get your fenders from these days. OEM discontinued? CAPA Certified from Extreme Terrain? Non-CAPA from RockAuto? Should I start another thread?

Desert Sand Mica, I think Toyota discontinued the color before then.

I also drive a desert sand mica that was in a wreck as well, but now it’s all fixed up.

Also the wreck was back in 2008 and the truck is a 2007.

    That's super cool.

I got mine started and no serious codes. That's a relief. I'm just waiting on fenders and the hood.

I like the painted grille. Thanks so sharing.

Yeah I like that sport scoop look. I'm gonna have a black scoop, black grille, and I'm planning to leave that lower part of the bumper black.

    I can't wait.
