I have a 2016 Tacoma and 2016 RAV4 that I'm trying to update the Gracenote Database on. I was able to download the June2018 update file from https://s3.amazonaws.com/visteon/public-gracenote/Gracenote_NA_June2018.up

But when I launch the Settings app on the dash and insert the USB stick (formatted FAT32), the Update button is grayed out. Any suggestions? Has anyone been able to get this to work?

Note1: I know there are some other threads on this but they are old and the links don't work - thought it was worth bringing up again.

Note2: I've read about a "cmu-NA-021115.up" file that might be the correct one for us but don't know where to get it.

I thought Gracenote was dead and no longer supported?

Are you sure of that? Looks like lots of cars are updatable... There are new versions to download etc. Mine is from 2016 and there are 2018 versions....

My '20 Taco came with Gracenote so I think it's still around. I'm also not really clear on what it does or what version I have. Why does it need to be updated?

Goto Settings > General > Gracenote update and show us what version you have. You can see my version in the photo in the OP.

The photos displayed during music playback are pathetic. I was hoping to get a more modern experience there.

This is new to me. I had assumed that Gracenote streamed data through Entune. Can you please link up a website other than the download file?

Nope. It's too stupid. Entune doesn't ever get any better like I had hoped.

Look for "To download the latest Gracenote update click here."

Here's mine, I just realized you have the upgraded JBL Stereo and I don't. Hope this helps.

Well sure but the Entune instructions don't work. Next up? Tacoma Forum support!

Hahaha! There is that. I makes me angry that the H/U FW download site is at least three versions behind now and the version from the latest TSB is a big flaming fail.

Thanks. But, I see a problem. Have you been able to do this update in the past? The iA H/U is from Visteon. Our H/Us are Panasonic, I believe. The update file might not be compatible?

Nice! Your update buttons are active - mine are grayed out. Weird. Darnit!

Yes, I see Panasonic files on the MicroSD card with the Garmin maps. I haven't tried putting the Gracenote Update on the MicroSD card - hmmmm...

Other forums talked about a "cmu-NA-021115.up" file - maybe that's for the Panasonic? Anyone have this or similar file?

No I have not. Seems like they've built in an update procedure and then disable it. So frustrating! My kids laugh at the bad photos on the head unit....

I can't even change the car model on that website. LoL!

It is a bit ridiculous that we have to get this involved for timely updates.

Cool! Maybe we can get this figured out.

Yeah, the stock genre photos are pretty bad. These days, I usually just run with the screen off and use the centerstack if I am curious about song info.

I know! Seems reasonable that it would improve over time. I just wish I had CarPlay like they initially promised in 2016... Car manufacturers can't keep up with phone Ones and shouldn't try. The Phone should take over the head unit....

I agree there. It would be a lot easier and more elegant, not to mention up to date. OE audio has sucked since the days of cassettes. They have not learned.
