Bilstein 5100's with OME 881 springs in the front, trail gear add a leaf spring, K&N polumer cold air intake, and Walker exhuast with muffler delete with Denso sensors, (no check engine light) . Cooper all terrains stock size. 21.2 mpgs and I drive a little crazy lol.
So I'm wanting/needing new UCA's, I live in PHX, AZ so its a dry climate where rust isnt really an issue. Im looking at TC's, Camburg, JBA, and Icon. Would the uniball be the better choice since Im in a desert climate and rust and crap arent a big deal, or should I go with the ball joint and not have to even worry about it. Professional advice and personal experiences please!

Anyway if you live in AZ I’d say it’s preference. If use uniballs make sure to keep them clean if using ball joint make sure to grease them as advised in owners info. Do what you want. I have ball joint since I’m in salt belt.

I just installed TC UCA’s and my truck rides so much better. I figured I’d see a big difference when I installed my FOX 2.0’s and I was honestly more impressed with changing out my UCA’s than my shocks. If your going to lift your truck than the UCA’s will definitely make a difference. If you have the extra money, I’d do it!

Thanks Joe! That's definitely good hear! I put on the Bilstein 5100 lift last year and it feels like it's definitely lacking something, hopefully this will fix it! Did you get the uerthane or the Heim joints?

I recently installed the camburg uniballs, if you off-road your truck just slightly like I do you will need to clean them and lube them regularly. But I like them so far.

I got the urethanes. I figured the heim’s would have been overkill.

Also, if you go with Total Chaos, mine squeak a little because the installers torqued them to spec and I’ve read that some people dial it back a little bit to stop the squeaking. I don’t have a torque wrench so I’ve been just dealing with it. Not sure if this is a problem with all of them with the urethane bushings?

Probably about 6 months. I was pleasantly surprised in how she handles off-roading that much better. I’m maxed out on my Fox 2.0’s and that causes some stiffness (from what I’ve read) but this definitely smoothed things out a bit.

That's good to know, I'll be installing them myself so I'll be able to mess with it, if I do go with the TC's (which I'm thinking I am) I'll make a thread and hopefully find the squeak free torque value

Total Chaos has a youtube video about the proper way to lube the joints so that they don't squeek,
I was just looking at it today...

Here's the one I was thinking of: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xvMdAX2uybs

It boils down to: loosen the bolts at the bushings before you put in the grease or you'll
end up with deformed bushings. If you've pumped in grease without loosening the bolts
and your bushings aren't bad yet, the video shows how to release the pressure by holding
down the valve in the zerk so the grease can spurt back out...

No squeaking here just went liberal with good grease on the uerethane and just use wax for the uniballs and you’ll Never have issues.

I would say that if you aren't beating the hell out of the truck, unis aren't necessary at all. Being in a drier salt free environment makes it easier to go that route if you choose, but BJs are perfectly fine for most people.

I have TC's 1) "because I could" 2) I have mid travel Kings, so I wanted a little extra flex, too. 3) I won't be racing KOH, but I won't exactly be armoralling the tires, either, lol...

Just spray them with some teflon lube every once in a while if they start squeaking. Mine haven't squeaked once yet.

They're easy to install, I had my son do it, lol:

Do the Uniballs! I’m running the MCM Fab LT kit which has upper uniball. Been on the truck for almost 2 years. I’m in Southern AZ as well.

    I have mods
Just to be different, I went with SPC UCAs that have an actual ball joint. Have yet to install them tho.
