    Hey guys,

Just picked up a magnetic gray 2014 Tacoma 4x4 V6 5AT Access Cab from a Toyota dealer.

So the dealer markets it as a base on the website.. but the SR5 decal is on the back tailgate.

The vin decoders don't seem to specify the trim. Is there any difference between SR5 and base that can help me identify what the hell I got! (or is the SR5 the base for this year?)

It's got keyless entry and power windows/locks. Hitch on the back. Stock touch screen head unit.

Picking the truck up next week.

    Thanks y'all!

Base is SR. SR5 is a slight upgrade.

Thanks. Any reason why the Toyota vin decoder doesn’t say it’s an SR5? Doesn’t mention the trim at all, actually

2nd gens are all identified as Base, Prerunner, or X-Runner when you look them up.
The main add on packages are:

    SR
    SR5
    TRD Sport
    TRD OffRoad

One or more of these should show up under options when you look up the vin on the Toyota owners website.

I did the Toyota vin search, all that came up was:

    Model
    2014 Tacoma

    Grade
    TACOMA 4X4 ACCESSCAB V6 5A

It should I just looked up mine.
    owners.toyota.com
Create an account, put in the vin, and it should bring up every thing about the truck including any service history that was done at a Toyota dealer

Tried that but I’m in Canada, only works for the US. I just used the public one

I found another ‘14 SR5 online. It also didn’t show the trim, so maybe it’s just by design

Ah I see, the only other way to semi identify it is going by what it's equipped with.

Awesome thanks! It’s got cruise, chrome grill, keyless entry & backup camera so I’m gonna assume it’s an SR5 and I guess the rear badge backs that up too.

Weird the dealer would call it a Base model in their listing.

It's just how they are listed, mine shows up as a base even though it's a TRD OffRoad as you can see in the screenshots above.
The major thing you have to watch out for in the world of used Tacoma's is lower trim truck's being marketed as TRD OffRoads, many people have bought a "TRD OffRoad" truck and found out later that they actually got an SR5 with TRD stickers put on it and it has none of the stuff the TRD OffRoad comes with.

I have two Toyota in the owners.toyota.com site and just went and looked at my 2014 TRD Sport...

Lists as "Base" and 16" wheels. It has 17". Lists the wrong dealer as seller also.
Take the website with a grain of salt.

My dcsb is listened as an base even though its an sr5. I have chrome rear bumpers and grille. Also the sliding rear window. I think the steering wheel and shift knob are some also "leather"
