    Hello!

I am a new owner of a 2020 Toyota Tacoma SX- I need a little understanding of how to use anti slip in the rain. I see an anti slip off but no anti slip on. When you push it off, other things are turned off, which is something I would think you probably don't want to do especially in bad weather. Its raining today and the truck slipped when I stopped at a light. How do I use the anti slip so that won't happen?

I'm a little confuse about the anti slip off button - when to push it off and when to leave it as it is. Any help is appreciated.

    Hello & thank you!
I understand, so, if I don't want to skid, how do you turn on the ABS to keep from skidding in rain and if I want to have better traction around curves, how to you engage anti slip? I was under the impression that ABS was supposed to be automatic. If that was the case, it didn't kick in this morning at the light, I felt it skid.

Open the manual. There is likely a good section detailing when and how to use.

BTW, if you are not familiar with driving a pickup then you will need to adjust driving habits. Pickups don't have much weight in the rear giving them a tendency to break loose on wet surfaces. Much different than the typical front wheel drive. Or the heavy sedans of the '70s and before.

Hi, thank you for your reply. I've had a truck for the last 12 yrs. I've had a ranger, dakota, explorer sports trac and this new Tacoma. I do understand the light weight in the back. My ranger, I had to put sand bags in the back in the winter. my dakota was a 4w drive so, there was an anti slip button to turn on. my explorer sports trac had an anti slip on button. This new Tacoma, and an anti slip "off" button, which would give a person the idea that the anti slip would be automatic. So, I thought this forum would be something to ask to get better understanding on how the Tacoma works.

ABS is always on as a safety measure. It prevents brakes from locking up by applying pulses of braking. It doesn't increase traction on slippery surfaces.
Anti slip doesn't increase traction it applies braking to wheels that are spinning due to loss of traction which transfers torque to the wheels which aren't spinning.

ABS doesn't mean you'll never skid or slip, but it mitigates it and does its best to prevent it. Try slamming on the brakes as hard as you can in an empty parking lot when it is wet, or on ice and you'll feel the knocking in the pedal. That is the ABS. You'll still slide a little, but nowhere near as much as if you fully locked up the wheels.

I believe anti-slip is always on as well unless indicated on the dash.
