Does anyone have or can recommend a lock box that will fit under either front seat of a 2nd gen Taco? I've been searching, but there doesn't seem to be much out there. Maybe someone has modified one to work? I really don't want a console vault, because I don't want lose that storage.

This is kind of what I have in mind. Thanks!

It won't work, not enough space. You could have a custom one build. I have my amps under the seat and there is limited room for them. Our only lockable cabinet is the console vault.

A Nano vault cabled to the seat is an option. More for quick storage when you have to leave the gun in the car for a short period of time while going into a gun prohibited location. Console Vault is much more secure.

Another good alternative to the Console Vault is the Lock'er Down vault. Very similar to the console vault.

    Console vault - $289
    Locker box - $269

Both have combo lock. I would get the cheaper box. Lol

I found mine on Craig's list for $180.

    Thanks!

Yeah, I got a chance to look and there isn't much room under there. But I think I've come up with a solution.

Console vault through COSTCO is $249 if you're a member. I also think they give a Tacoma World discount.

I wish they had a unit that fit under the driver-side of the rear seat instead of all the way across as I don't need everything locked like this (the jack and stuff goes on the passenger side).

I've looked at doing a locking bin just on the drivers side and I might mock something up with hardboard to see how hard it may be. I'd use steel for everything including the lid though. It'll require cutting the plastic insert I realize, but it'll be cheaper and more what I need/want.

Serious that Costco has Console Vault discount. Maybe I should have worded it better. Should have said "I also think Console Vault may give a Tacoma World discount".

You can always lift the seat a couple of inches to try and squeeze the vault under the front seat. There is a company that makes a seat lift kit for the tacoma.

I use something like this. Its not the best but it works. Before I moved to ID I was planning on moving to communist California(thank god it didn’t work out) and they require a lock box for guns(among other stupid laws). Now the box sits empty, I have the gun in a padded case in between the passenger seat and console. My Sig fits perfectly there and you really gotta look for it to see it. When I’m out and about and don’t want to pack, I lock it up. Peace of mind.

Or just run to the hardware store and get some washers. I did this when I installed an amp in my last Taco
