I have a cheap harbor freight safe that wraps around the seat rake and slides out. Like people have mentioned, if it’s coming off of me, it’s for a couple min max and I make sure I can always see the truck.

    otherwise, it never comes off

I have Husky Mats, but you can't see the cable or box at all in mine from outside the truck.

The protester in Denver thought so too until the "security guard" shot him dead.

Could probably fit a lockbox under that with the seat risers like tachoawg13 is showing ya !

lockerdown even makes an under the seat option as well. I believe the traveler LD1929. It is about 3” tall and 10” wide and 13”L so I think it could fit with the seat jackers!

EDIT: to be honest when I get around to ordering the seat jackers from dessert does it I will buy the LD1929 for my passenger seat. Probably take me a while but when I do I’ll follow up if ya beat me to it no sweat !

I've a TW member that had a secret pocket made into his driver's seat. Complete with a zipper. Can't even tell it's there if you were looking. Not secure like you want but it's there. He had the work done at an upholstery shop somewhere. They carved out some foam from the seat.

No, I said I don't carry which precludes me from answering the hypothetical dilemma proposed. My original comment was in regards to secure firearm storage. But by all means be condescending to the new person.

I use a Liberty HD50 lock box cabled to the seat rail. You cannot see the box or the cable from outside. I agree with your explanation that the goal is to protect from the casual thief.

Nothing is 100% and it is not for quick access but it is a reasonable solution to not being able to carry certain places. It cost $20 from Tractor Supply and I have been very happy with it.

Not too difficult to add the driver side cubby yourself https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads...rage-box-on-2020-tacoma.728967/#post-25964987

Two additional options besides the console lock to add a lock to existing storage are behind the driver rear seat (https://tuffyproducts.com/products/toyota-rear-security-cubby-cover-toyota-2005-2021-tacoma/ )

And under the rear seats (https://www.extremeterrain.com/alterum-tacoma-locking-under-seat-storage-box-usstaco-01.html )

Good info here, to be sure. When I'm out of the 36k/3year I'll probably do the first option and add a storage cubby that I don't have now. For now I don't want to dick with that in case something happens like the bed cracking or whatever else under the sun could happen.

Regarding the under rear seat option (I have a DCSB), I have toddlers in car seats, so until they're out of car seats I can't really use those under-bench/behind the seat storage areas except in dire circumstances (I keep some basic stuff like jumper cables and tire change related stuff in there for now). If you've ever hooked a kids car seat into one of these trucks, it's brutal compared to an SUV or full size sedan. Easier to leave them in place and lose a bit of bed space for storage.

True and most folks allowed by the government to be armed keep it available. But like I said, what about that stop at the public restroom in a national park? Yep, technically a federal building.

Against bears & wasps. If your assailant is armed you might have a problem.

When I hear any talk about repercussions for carrying, I think about the old saying:

"I'd rather be tried by 12 than carried by 6."

And a house is more secure? Windows can be broken just as easy on a house.
