So now that we know the 37 ft lbs in the spec sheet is wrong, what is the actual torque specs for the u bolts. the Deaver aal I just installed hand a chart I glanced at and it had numbers in the 120 ft lbs. I've heard a theory that the numbers were backwards and it's supposed to be 73 ft lbs. This seems a little low. But I've also seen a housing get a hairline fracture and leak diff fluid bc the u bolt was too tight....
Don't call toyota and ask them bc they will say 37 ft lbs.
So what is the magic number? Does the 3rd Gen have corrected specs that we can use?

I've done mine to 75 re checked after like 1000kms and they were still tight so. I also read that the sheet is backwards so its supposed to be 73

Not the same, but for general ref, the gen 2 Dakar ubolts go to 89ft-lbs

This seems like a solid number to go with. Mine are currently at 73lbs give or take.

    A few minor things...
73lbs/ft is the revised stock torque. I went with 80lbs/ft before that came out because judging by the bolt size, that made sense.

Just installed my AAL and it came with slightly bigger bolts so I did 100lbs/ft.

Checked after 50 miles and 500 miles, nothing had moved or changed.

Figure if our aluminum wheels and lug studs can take torque of 85lbs so can our heavy cast metal axle housings.

I used icon ubolts and they came with larger nuts. Maybe I'll go a little higher.

No idea what the torque was on my old rig but it was the front 85 axle housing that developed the fracture and I never used a torque wrench on the ubolts. Just zipped down with an impact haha. I'm assuming since the ubolts was directly wrapped around the housing(ubolt flip kit) and the force was more concentrated as opposed to the stock rear with the plate under and the ubolts pressure on the spring and bump stop, it may have taken less to developed the crack.

Ha-the old impact gun torque wrench trick. Either way here you'll be good. Just try to have even threads showing at the ends of each U-bolt and check them before and after each wheeling trip

Checked my U-bolts this evening after my leaves started squeaking, they were not even close. Cranked them to 80ft-lbs and the squeak is gonzo.

Toyota's spec on a 2016+ is 52 ft lbs. Unless something has changed.

I just installed a wheelers flip kit and their instructions were at 37 for what it's worth, I went with that and will recheck at 100 miles.
