I’ll just have to go get a paint sample of that 4m4 and see if it’s a match. Thanks @eccracer104

Probably a dealer upgrade. Kinda like now you can buy a new truck with a lift kit and bigger tires and wheels right off the lot. I'd bet the paint code is a factory Toyota color from that same year.

    Just a guess here...

I had a 98 taco with factory paint job and the whole truck was the color of the bottom of your truck. I would guess they used the same paint for both trucks. So if you can find the color code for the "tan" truck of that year, I bet that's the color you need.

"Metallic beige", from the list posted above, sounds about how I would describe mine. I would have described it as tan with metal flake.

That's not factory, first gens never came with two tone paint scheme. A dealer or PO might have done it with OEM colors though.

I’m the third owner of the truck, the guy before me bought it from an older man who bought it brand new from the dealership like that, that’s what made me think it was a factory paint, but like @Revco said, it could’ve been a dealer upgrade or some sort

VIN number should provide some details once given to the dealer, or am I wrong on that?

Yes, I posted a link to check the options and paint that came from the factory. The 1st gen afaik never had a "factory" 2 tone paint scheme (others here are confirming that, too).

So either the dealer did actually paint the truck, or the OP was playing the telephone game with the previous owner.

Very easily the original owner could have had it painted like that "when it was new", and then many years later retells the story to the next owner, and he assumes he meant it was a factory paint job, then the OP hears it slightly differently.

    Who knows...

You really can't be sure of the paint color unless a VIN lookup shows the 2 colors. Best to just have it matched with paint samples, etc...

The only "Factory" 2 tone paints that I have seen come on Sequoias, 4 Runners, and Camrys. Most other vehicles that are two tone are usually from an auction, that a dealer bought to sell, or the previous owner.

Here's a 2003 T4R I found for sale recently. This must have been some kind of special order or dealer add-on.
