I am going to install an aftermarket head unit in a 2021 Tacoma and want to run the tweeters from the head unit and the rest of the speakers will be on an amp. What colors would the tweeters be on the wiring harness? I have a Pioneer DMH-8600nex. Or would it be better to connect the tweeters to the amp? Also I put in the Subaru tweeters. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Just hook it all to the amp, there is no good reason to use the headunit for the tweeters and a amp for everything else.

And take out the Subaru tweeters, unless you like really harsh highs.

i was thinking about hooking them up to the amp, didn’t want to send too much power to them though. Would I just hook them in with the front speakers?

The way they are now sounds really good, but do you think they would get harsher hooked to an am? I don’t like that ear piercing tweeter sound

Right now the tweeters are hooked up to the door speakers already, so just run the factory wires that normally plug into the headunit and run them to the amp (you can get pre-made harness that does this). No need to do anything else with the doors, no need to run new wires for the doors.

The easiest way to do this would be to connect Pioneer Front Left/Right speaker outputs to the factory harness and run speaker wires to the door woofers from your amplifier, leaving them disconnected from the factory harness.

I would think phase alignment between tweeter and woofer might be pretty far off though, and it would be better if you had better control over the crossover points than whatever the stereo and amplifier give you, or the tweeter’s filter cap.

Yeah, I was just going to run speed wire to the head unit from the amp and connect the speaker wires. So If I connect the front doors to the amp it will go through to the tweeters? If so that would be awesome!
I'm a noob at audio stuff, I can hook it up but not sure what you mean by speaker alignment. Do you mean they could be out of sync with the rest of the audio?

Yep, since your using the kicker tweeters, your system will be very easy to do. When you switch to using components with external crossovers that when you have a bit more wiring involved. Just hook the amp right up to the speaker wires in the dash and your good to go.
