5 years ago I would have told you that go Intel/Nvidia-hell thats what did at the time Q6600 and 8800GTS 512 in SLI. The reason why was that even though AMD/ATI beat both Intel and Nvidia on the price to performance ratio, especially on the mid rang specs, Intel cpu's usually were more overclockable and tended to work better for games. Nvidia always had slightly better performing top tier cards (a protect very few would buy) but what was always the selling point for me was that ATI drivers were a pain in the ass to update and were unreliable.

Now things have changed a great deal. Intel still defiantly edges out AMD in terms of making a gamer oriented cpu (just bought 4670K :D) but the AMD Nvidia race has become a lot more interesting. I would still argue that Nvidia makes the slightly faster top tier card and that their drivers are better, but the AMD driver are really stable and their prices (in general sense) are substantially lower than a comparable Nvidia card.

As far as overclocking goes, for both cpu and gpu it could not be easier. Just look up a guide specifically for whatever your cpu/gpu because chances are someone has made one.

Are you looking for a new setup?

I just built a new desktop and although this is not news, switching to SSD from a RAID 0 setup is HUGE!! I'm not made of money so what I did was just get a 256Gb samsung 840 pro for my OS and some steam games and put the rest on a 1Tb HDD. Hand up, I can boot to the desktop in about 6-8 seconds-full disclosure I'm running windows 8.1(for better or worse)

SSDs would be awesome. they are finally coming down in price too..least a bit anyways..very good choice for a primary drive. running a couple in RAID would be epic i bet..

Just a bunch of old crap
Oh yeah. It's been a while since I've played CS Source. Actually my old gaming box is down so I haven't logged into Steam for a couple years but I miss me some old 1.6 CS! God, this makes me want to set back up and get some hours in.

My old 5 digit Steam account should still be active.

I used to play the shit out of age of empires as I grew up! I wish they would release more.

I actually think it's still in alpha. It looks like a lot of fun, and when they get into the multiplayer it will be awesome.

Is the third one any good? I don't think I actually ever played it. I just googled it and I can DL a trial version. I need a new game to play. I got into Dead Space cause I always heard it was good and super scary. I'm mostly excited for Elder Scrolls Online to release.
