    I am about to go get the glue and start sorting some of this out; gotta cut the grass first tho..

    One thing I don't understand is how/where to use the clamps - the table is too wide for the clamps so is it to keep the top/bottom of the table/seam flush? [if that makes sense]

    Edit: what kind of screws are advisable to use?

    Yes, you want to keep the seem flush so you don't have an uneven glue which is difficult to re-level sanding.

    Wood screws. Interior. I like the screws with star heads, cause ive never had one of them strip. If you go to lowes or a hardware store they are generally labeled as such.

    Okay good deal but now I am asking about length since you brought it up..

    The thickness of the top + thickness of the brace piece with enough room so it doesn't puncture the top surface

    Yes its just on the ends to keep it aligned. If you have a rubber mallet you can tap the center part as you tighten the straps to keep it lined up.

    For the 1x2 strips id just use 1 1/2 #25 torx deck screws.
