Just gave the Taco the hard shell treatment. This stuff is awesome, washed and dried the truck. Gave it 2 coats of the turtle treatment and it looks really good. The bottle says 2 coats should last a year. Will shall see. Give it a test drive .

I believe the new batch that takes up a whole end-cap in Walmart is around $16 a bottle .

I've used that one too. I got it because it was inexpensive and I wanted to see how well it worked. Wow... it worked much better than I expected, it goes far and is quick to apply. My QS paint looks real good, but man, the metallic blue on my wife's JKU is really shiny. it looks really good. I've started using it on my glass, plastic, and wheels too. So far, I'm really happy with it. Washes are easier too as stuff doesn't stick as easily.

I really like the stuff before it:pout:
I will see if I got any left. Maybe give this new stuff another try. If I got some of the earlier version I will post a picture.

If your truck is parked outside 24/7 in the elements it won't last. 4 months max maybe at the best. You'll get some nice beading for a while, but it ain't lasting a year. I tried it and Griot's version and didn't get but 6 months durability and 2 outta the 3 of my vehicles are garaged.

:rofl:there's maybe a half a teaspoon in the bottle and I still didn't throw it out. I like to do just the front end with this stuff after every wash and the bug guts come off so easily. 20211019_190217.jpg

Hybrid ceramics are great for preventative maintenance, spot cleaning (bird droppings/bug spatter) and getting a nice showroom finish. But their durability and longevity statements are meer marketing ploys. If it doesn’t come in a glass bottle and doesn’t require curing, it’s not going to last. I have a bottle of the turtle wax spray carnauba, will have to give that a try next!

With that said, this is what I use.

I've tried several of the new hybrid ceramic products. I find best results still with the Meguiers cleaner wax. A little more work though.20211019_191534.jpg

Then there's a Turtlewax Ice. That works great on the Jeeps hard top. 20211019_192631.jpg

I've tried Griots, Rainx, and Meguiar's ceramic sprays and while they do good in a pinch, I always go back to the old standby...

That's what I thought, until I saw how well Griot's Garage 3-in-1 Ceramic was holding up in YouTube tests. I think most of their stuff is overpriced with only average performance, but this stuff seems to be the real deal. It's absurdly easy to apply, and is actually pretty affordable.

    https://youtu.be/G-qJazF35GE?t=313

It appears to hang with significantly pricier products that are generally more difficult to apply. To one of your points though, they recommend a minimum 12 hour cure, 24 hours best.

I performed a single step paint correction this summer and applied one coating of it, guess we'll see if I'm still a fan by next year. So far it's working fantastic.

I have to say, Griot is an exception. I’ve recently got onboard with their product line and for being as readily available (box stores) it’s one of the better consistent product lines out there. Overpriced? Maybe. Their paint correction polish compounds do wonders though. Are you using DA random orbital or rotary? The DA I inherited is on its last limb. I’ve been eyeing TORQx as Rupes is a bit much being a hobbyist, my cousin is the professional - but no commitment yet. Thank you for sharing your success. :fistbump:

Looks like Scott just got another sub.

I'm using the same DA Porter Cable I had back when I was a pro detailer 10 years ago. Recently upgraded from my ancient Detailers Domain foam pads and Menzerna SIP to a Rupes yellow pad & polish kit, and I'm impressed with the quality and performance. Their DA's look fantastic but are way out of my price range since these days I perform a paint correction, at most, every other year.

You're not going to go "wrong" per se with Griot's, you're just paying extra for average product thanks to their intensive marketing. I can name a product for practically every single one of theirs that is cheaper and performs better. Won't smell like cherry soda though. Gotta admit, I've been tempted to take a sip of their Speed Shine.
