I just finished changing my marker or parking lights into a combination of marker and turn signal. Thanks to @GMcGee for bringing back an old post, then confirming that it could be done EASILY, and without complications. I thought I would condense the information down, and eliminate some less effective ways that were shown in the original post.

The video covers it, but it wasn't quite as clear as I would like. Also, I wanted to keep the blinkers that I already had in my CBI bumper, and just add more in the marker light.

For the sake of clarity, I'll write up what I did, and the result. As the author of the video states, you cut the green power wire going to the blinker, and cut the white/black ground going to the marker light, and connect those two together. In his case, he just eliminated the old blinker housing, cutting off the remaining ground wire, which was not used any more.

In my case, I wanted to retain the blinker in the bumper. Therefore, I spliced into the green wire going to my bumper blinker, and ran that spliced wire up to the marker light ground (white/black) which I cut. This basically left the wiring to the bumper just as it had been, utilizing the ground. This also works perfectly fine, with one somewhat unexpected outcome. When the blinkers are on, they alternate, marker light is on when bumper is off, back and forth. Actually, makes them much more noticeable.

EDIT: A couple of things I neglected to mention. My markers had already been upgraded to LED bulbs, eliminating the feeble 5W incandescent bulbs, and I already have an LED flasher. Additionally, in my case, I am using them as a supplement to the bumper turn signals. Lastly, solder and heat shrink is absolutely required for all connections and splices.

As ghetto as it takes :). There are at least three problems with this change
    1. It is not road legal. Corner bulb is 5W way to small to serve as a primary turn signal. 21W equivalent is required. But if changed to 21W this bulb is to much for corner light.
    2. When headlights are off the blinker is back feeding power to tail lights curcuit. Not good.
    3. The way he connected two wires may be good for the radio inside the cab, but not for any wiring under the hood exposed to the environment.

Some poor sod might follow the video on his truck and then the next owner will look at the wiring and wonder WTF is that. This is unfortunate that Internet is full of such DIY crap and many will not know which one is legit an which is just crap.

I live where city lights keep everything as bright as the sun at night so to me the brightness of lights doesn’t always coincide with what others need / want. I just added aux blinker lights to replace the fogs and don’t care so do things as you see fit and be safe and solder and heat shrink with like $15 of supplies from HD like a real man lol

Hi there, I recently did the swap with proper soldering and the correct turn signal relay. However, now my hazard light button doesn't work, how can I fix this? Thanks for the replies!
