Been having this problem intermittently for over a month now. I turn the truck off and take the key out and the lights on the dash indicating park, neutral etc is still lit up (it will blink a few times to try and turn off and then stays on). The AC button stays lit up. And if I turn the AC to on it will blow even though it should be off. The keyless entry won’t work while this is happening. If I get out and lock the door manually and close the door the dash lights stay on. If I unlock and open the door back up get in and close the door, sometimes this will turn the lights on the dash off and seems to fix it. If this happens and my truck sits for more than a day it drains the battery. I’ve jumped it 6 times in the past month.

I’ve taken it to the dealer and because it does it intermittently they couldn’t get it to do it for them, all their diagnostics and fuse checks came back fine. They recommended replacing the ignition switch to see if that solves it but it’s no guarantee. I’ve gotten about 3 other second opinions from local mechanics and they seem stumped. Worried it might be the ECU but all the tests come back with no errors. And I’m also worried replacing the ignition switch might not fix it.

Has anyone else had this issue or know what it might be? Thanks in advance.

First question, do you have a remote start system?

The blower should not come on unless the IG1 #2 fuse has power.
That fuse gets its power from the ignition switch. I would start at the ignition switch.
Plus, the other stuff you mention seems to get power from there as well.

Step 1. Check the following fuses for power when the problem occurs again. Key OUT of the ignition.

    Welcome to TW

    Ignition switch is suspect

Does the truck have a aftermarket remote start installed?

I do not have a remote start. But thanks for the reply, I have an appointment with my guy to get the switch replaced tomorrow. So I’m hoping this is the issue!

Maybe he can catch it in the act before the parts go on.

Its pretty basic testing. Battery power goes in all the time, power comes out on various pins depending on the position of the key. If the key is off and you've got power coming out, the switch is bad. Just look at the diagram Tn posted above

UPDATE** replaced the ignition switch and the problem persisted. The blower relay was the next thing replaced. The problem still persisted. Got the Truck to do it for the mechanic and he started to poke around the fuse box and there was a couple random wires where the insulation had rubbed off somehow and the exposed wires were touching randomly. Wrapped some electrical tape around them and tucked them back in and the issue has been fixed. Annoying but glad it wasn’t an expensive fix.

I'm seeing this exact issue on my '22 Tacoma anytime I use the auto lights. The blower, headlights, and dash all stay on until I manually turn lights to off. Doesn't matter if I lock it, and it's drained my battery recently overnight.

Based on your experience I checked my first box, everything looks clean. Did a search around under the hood tracing every wire I could and not seeing any exposed wires.

I'll try to get it to dealer under warranty and report back with any finding.
