So like the title says I have a intermittent fast turn signal flashing since I installed all LED tail light bulbs in my 2017 TRD. I can understand a constant fast flashing, but intermittent has got me stumped. I've checked connections of each light and if one isn't working when they do flash fast, all ok. I'm wondering if my Tacoma has a turn signal flasher like some older domestic cars and trucks. If so I have no idea where it might be. I've only had the truck since April and really haven't had to touch anything yet. Any ideas other than faulty LEDS. Thanks

Do those bulbs have internal resistors to add a load to the circuit? If not, you'll need them.

These LED's don't have the resistors, but on other vehicles if they flash too fast then you install the resistors. This intermittent thing has got me.

Even if its intermittent now, I found that you will still need resistors. I tested mine in accessory mode before I buttoned everything up. However the first time I was driving and turned on the blinker, the fast flash came back intermittently.

I returned them and ordered a set of error free bulbs and havent had any problems since. I didn’t want to add external resistors , so these were worth it. Although they are $15 more than when I purchased last March.

Short answer is nope, long answer is that the flasher gizmo is built into the circuit board of the instrument panel. When I changed my taillights to LED I had to add external resistors and if I remember correctly they are 6 ohm.

The intermittent thing drives me crazy. I do a lot with converting SR headlights, and this one has always stumped me as well. If you are converting an SR to the OEM headlights, the headlights have internal resistors to match the 7440 bulb, so the ECU sees 21-25W of load. Well, the SR uses a 7442, so 28W. Without an additional resistor, they will hyperflash occasionally. This isn’t an issue of the load being borderline to the 50% mark (since at most, we are talking about a 25% difference on the one bulb). It also doesn’t make a difference as to if the bulb and resistors are warm or not. It is just touchy is all I have decided. The best solution I have found (and what I do for the conversion harnesses) is use a small resistor in addition to the bulb if it has a built in resistor. Like a 25-15 Ohm so you don’t overload the circuit. If the LED bulb you are using does not have a built in resistor, then a 6 Ohm might be the best option.

Yup. Same here. 2017 TRDOR. I put two Oxilam LEDs in just the rear blinker positions. (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B09N9FTZ1J). I have no blinker hyperflash when the headlights are off (and just DRLs are on). However, as soon as I turn the headlights on, the hyperflash occurs on both left and right blinkers. The blinkers do not hyperflash in any configuration while using the hazard lights. This is all consistently repeatable.

I don't know why having the headlights on or off would determine if the blinkers hyperflash. Weird.
