    Hello everyone!

This is my first time posting on TacomaWorld and this forum has definitely helped me out throughout the years so thank you for that. I am having some electric problems with my 99 Tacoma and I am not having any luck finding any definite answers on the web.

My problem started after power washing some parts of my engine. I had a lot of oil and grime under my oil pan and on my skid plates so I took the plates off and went to town on it from below and also power washed most of the top of the engine due to a lot of dirt and dust. But afterwards my turn signal 10A and horn/hazards 15A fuses keep blowing every time I try to use them.

I can use my left turn signal fine after replacing the fuse but as soon as I use my right signal it blows immediately every time. Doesn't matter if I am moving or parked. The left signal seems to work just fine and will only stop working once the right signal blows the fuse. The hazards work only for about 5 to 10 seconds if on constantly and then the fuse blows as well. The horn/hazards seem to hold from blowing the fuse longer if the turn signal fuse is still good. When I use the hazards the green arrow lights on my display kind of flicker and blink with a stutter but when I use my left turn signal the green arrow light blinks normal and steady. When I use the right signal, boom it blows the fuse immediately?

I have inspected the turn signal lights themselves and I don't see any signs of bad bulbs or damage. I have seen other people suggest water intrusion into one of the bulbs but it's strange that the hazards don't immediately short out when engaged. I am not seeing any exposed or damaged wires and I had no problems with these devices the day before.

Any help or ideas would be greatly appreciated. As you all know, these electrical gremlins and be quite the pain in the a** haha! Thank you in advance for any advice!

You’re blowing fuses so you have a short, apparently in the right side since the left works. Inspect all the wiring and connectors and you’ll likely find something. Disconnect all the connectors and spray them with contact cleaner to remove the water and let them sit disconnected for a while to dry.

If you have (or can borrow) a multimeter it'll make your life easier. My guess is you have water in a connector somewhere or you pressure washed away some insulation.

Remains to be seen I bought the tires and wheels the rest came along
Did you use any Chemicals or just water?

Getting wet causes Corrosion which causes more resistance increasing the load till the fuse opens.

Things might dry or there on maybe not.

Thank you for the replies everyone! I appreciate it.

What would be the best wiring diagram/ schematic to look at for better diagnostics? I have a multimeter and that video will be of help!

I used the engine and tire cleaner at the carwash.

The one for your 1999 Tacoma!

    Toyota Electrical Wiring Diagrams!!

The circuits can be pretty close but wire colors change making things frustrating.

For sure! Anyone know where to find these manuals online, or even just the page for the turn signals. The manuals go for like $200 bucks!!!

Toyota sold the Service Manuals to Helm Inc who tripled the prices and has a team of lawyers hunting for web hosted manuals.

You can try Ebay people having copies at home or go to All Data pay for a weekend and Download everything you can.
