Ok this has happened before and was an easy fix, but I can't remember how.
Bulb is STILLL GOOD. Although it looked a little burned.replaced and problem persists.
Also if I move the turn lever slow it will blink normal . (??)
But it will go fast blink of I just hit the lever normally.
    Any ideas?

Not sure but is it possible maybe the flasher is going bad or that maybe one of your signal bulbs is not making real good contact like caroded a bit so sometimes it flashes normal and sometimes it flashes fast as if bulb is out ... just a thought

This is ALMOST ALWAYS caused by a blown fuse or bad relay or blown bulb. Something is creating a short and that's why you get the quick blinking, it 'over powers' the turn signal relay.

No trailer harness. Works some of the time, not a consistant problem. But annoying as hay.
How do I check the relay?

Do all the bulbs flash when it is blinking fast?

if it works normally when you move the lever slowly, but not when you move it quickly, best guess is that there is corrosion or a bad contact or ground in the switch on the steering column that is making a poor contact when moved quickly, IF all the lights blink.

-No bulbs blink when it goes fast.
-Would this entail taking apart the steering column to test/ fix?

Well, change the bulbs first to be sure it isn't them, even if they look good. The make sure contacts are clean, and a good ground on the lights before going into the steering column. But if NONE of the bulbs blink, it sounds more like the switch or something in the wiring harness is bad.

Before taking the steering wheel off, you could try grabbing and wiggling the steering column wire harness to see if it affects it. Maybe you'll get lucky and find it's a bad connection under there. On another Toyota I found a broken solder joint holding a wire to the back of the switch assembly, but that was on the high beam wire, so I wouldn't be surprised if it was something like that.

Basic question, but have you put a new flasher in and checked it?

I think someone asked this, but I didn't see if you answered it or not..

    Have you checked the relay?

Try swapping your horn relay into the turn signal relay and see if it still does it..

No have not put in New flasher or relay. Is the relay expensive? Is this an easy fix?
What part exactly is the flasher?
    Thx= l

Turn on the ignition, turn on the turn signal slowly, so it blinks regularly, and stick your head under the dash. You will hear it "clicking" as it works. Just follow the sound...

The flasher is mounted on the back side of your fuse panel. As you are facing it reach behind the dash and to the top left. If you turn on a blinker you will feel it clicking. Pull it straight out. Its about 10 seconds to swap one.

But if the way things performbased on how a separate component is used, its unlikely tobe the relay and more likely to be the manipulated component.

Iirc it takes about a minute to pull the signal stalk. Id start with that, check for a loose connection, bad joints, and then clean before reinstalling to see if the problem goes away.

Last time I attempted to replace a flasher, it was in a POS s10. Nearly had to drop the whole dash to get to it, real pain in the ass. I gave up.

    I sold the truck! lol

I'm tellin ya...check all the bulbs, check the fuses. God forbid the stalk switch is bad!
As far as part numbers, are you afraid to go to the auto parts store? They generally have zero problem giving part numbers lol, Google is great for this too. Not being an ass, that's how I would approach getting an answer if I was in your shoes. Plus, I like going to the auto parts store, I get smelly goods for the tuck, hand cleaner, and shop towels!

Pretty much all my experience with this type of situation is in the bulb OR the socket the bulb plugs into, and a lot of the times the ground side of the socket up inside. Make sure the bulb compress the spring, or what ever is inside to keep it tight inside the socket. Now I'm talking about #57 and # 56 type round brass socket bulbs. I don't know if yours is the flat type plug in. I always put some anti-corrosive paste (just a dab) inside the socket also.
