Check your tail light harness, where it plugs into the light housing. 4 screws hold the light in place. Remove the screws then gently separate the lens from the housing to check bulb fitment.
Flip the housing over and inspect the back where the wires come in.
Mine was doing the same thing and it turned out to be the ground wire on the cheap aftermarket housing.
If that doesn't do it check your trailer plug in if you have one. Cracked or corroded wires could cause an issue too.

The ground off one of your tailight bulbs or the holder assembly is bad.The lampholder assmebly has a common ground. When the assembly ground isn't connected to battery ground (via the wire, and then the fram/body), the power goes through the brake filament, to that bulbs ground, then through the turn signal filament via their common ground connection. The turn signal switch/relay must ground their normally positive lead when you aren't running the turn signal, which means power flows through the filament to return to ground.

Put your hazards on at night, and you will likely see your brake lights light up in unison with the turn signal lamps.

This took me forever to figure out the first time! In my case, it ended up being the connection to the body from the lampholder assembly. I think ir re-tapped a hole, and I use KopperKote on everything threading into steel that needs to conduct power. It's basically copper anti-seize.

I had a similar problem, but the whole dash would light up when I hit the brakes, and the third brake light would fire up when I turned on the head lights. Also lost cruise control. Turned out to be the right side tail/brake bulb with the two elements. One element burned and fused to the other element, replaced the bulb and all is normal. Hope your fix is as simple as mine was.
