I’ve been reading a lot into putting a turbo on my truck and still have questions I can’t seem to find answers to. The 2.7 L is just a little anemic for my liking and looking to squeeze the extra power out of it without over doing it.

Is the 2tr-fe block and internals going to hold up ok to the added pressure (only planning to go to 7psi max) and is there any other subsystems I should think about replacing or upgrading about the same time I start this project?

I thought there’s a forced induction sub forum but I don’t see it.

theres almost zero info on it. there is a performence thread in the 4 cylinder section. ive researched down the rabbit hole and plan to do it down the road so some basic info I have: all basic turbo things apply like any other vehicle like tuning, more pressure equals more building, size of turbo, etc etc. 6psi is known to be fine with stock internals and ecu, just need a tune obviously. some guys push their URD superchargers to 12 psi and the blower gives out more than the engine cause the rotrex unit URD uses arent know to be super reliable. youre going to have to do fab work like the exhaust manifold, there are no good kits ready to buy. there was a guy who has a built 2tr turbo set up in a buggy and if i remember it makes 300+ WHP. its basically all custom work with barely any support, a true DIY type of deal but man its something unique if you can do it. if you have the skills to fab and have the $$$ the hardest part is finding someone to tune it. the 2tr is a beast but its a shame there are no kits for it. a lot of people see shame in taking one of toyotas most reliable engines ever made and screwing with it.

it’s an insanely reliable vehicle and motor and I’ve thought about doing it for a couple years now, more so than my wife’s Chevy trax that in 4 years I’ve replaced over half of the drive train and various other mechanical problems Atleast once because it breaks if you look at it wrong..
