I need to replace my right outer CV boot... :annoyed:

Edit: And both lower control arms, upper control arms, all of the skid plate bolts, (my rack and pinion is rusty as Hell) tow package and my rusty-ass frame.

I've done it before, just not on a Taco. I was a service tech for Saturn and went to trade school at UTI in Houston. I did it for 5 years before joining the Army in 2007. The cool thing is we have an "Auto Skills Center," basically a lift bay and tools we can use for $7/hour. As long as it's not welding, I do that stuff myself. My welds suck lol

That's pretty awesome for a 96" engine. Is it carbed?

It's called Sprocket's, I'm not sure. I think for the use of certain facilities on post requires either an active duty ID or dependent ID that authorizes use of the facilities... I'll check real quick on their website. It's part of the MWR (Morale Welfare and Recreation) department on post.

Legit AF! I love Mikuni Carbs, unless their individual carbs on individual runners on a multi cylinder engine. Tuning is a bitch on 4-bangers lol

Their tools are limited, but I can do everything from an oil change to an engine swap to a full restoration there. Sadly, there's no paint and body portion.

Edit: I did my OME lift there and do the services on my bike and truck there, too

Edit 2: I'm still waiting for @Texoma to finish his vacation to do my CMC, though. Like I said, I don't trust my welds lol

    Sprockets Fort Hood website: https://hood.armymwr.com/programs/sprocket-auto-crafts

No answer on civilian access yet, but civilians are authorized access to Fort Hood as guests and visitors if you get a visitor's pass at the Visitor Center. It takes about 20-30 minutes to get a pass(if it's not crowded). You need to get a background check and then you get a stamped pass. Kinda involved, but relatively painless if they're not busy.

Edit: It's also a good chance to visit the 1st Cavalry Division and 3rd Stryker Cavalry Regiment museums if you're just visiting (The museums are free, btw).

A lot has changed since I was there . Ft. Hood was an open post at one time. It doesn't surprise me though. I left in the late 90's I used to work for MWR. Used sprokets quite a bit. But at the time I worked at one of the eateries there and fed the staff on my dime so they let me use it if they were not busy. I would also get into BLORA for free. Took advantage of the range passes for the stock pods all over the place.

Range passes are kinda difficult to get; no more open post after the last shooting. Once you're on post, if you're a guest of an ID card holder you're usually good (100% good in my experience). BLORA is $3 for ID card holders and more for others.

My dad and I drove from Woodland Park, Colorado to Stow, Massachusetts in 3 days stopping at some fort where my first unit fought Indians over a hundred years ago and the Wizard of Oz museum in an FJ Cruiser on 31s with a 2" suspension and 1" body lift.

Yeah, when I was there you went to the rod and gun club and asked. I think it was $20 bucks back then. There were only a couple of ranges that you had to get permission for. I always bought my TX fishing license and the Ft. Hood fishing liscense at the same time. I usually went late at night mainly for the old crappy barge especially when it was cold. Back then you could catch me at one of the lakes almost every day(night) of the week. I had like 6 poles and they pretty much stayed in the SUV.

Damn, thats nuts. My buddy needed a new car, found a supercharged manual 4x4 4Runner with a rear locker (exactly what he wanted)... but it was in Madison, Wisconsin. Found it on a Friday at 5pm, left at 7pm, his financing got denied so we had to wait the weekend, didn't sleep Sunday night, got the car Monday evening (we're at the dealership all day, he had to ask his family for money and we had to hit a bunch of banks to get enough cash, was crazy asf), pulled the rear drive shaft and got a u haul at 10pm, took us 28 hours to get home because we hit 3 thunderstorms. Drove el Tundy the entire time, no breaks, one nights sleep between Friday and Tuesday... I think Tuesday... I couldn't even keep track lmao

Now the hunting and fishing license is free for active-duty. A friend of mine hunts turkey and deer in the training area but he days there's a special pass you have to get (can't remember what it costs, if it costs) and now there's a waiting list because of the volume of game. Fishing is easy to get, though. There's lots of fishing areas on post that don't require range passes.
