I don't know how well Margarita's and vehicles mix but it would be good for tailgating.

Son of a bitch. I wanted to run my flux capacitor off of it. I guess I'll just have to get some plutonium.

Toyota should up the ante with a "Worksite package". Put a 2nd aux battery to run a 1200-2000 watt inverter, an outlet in or near the eng. compartment, 1 in the cab too.
This could easily be done as a mod for 1/3 what toyota would charges us though. Only hard part is getting a 2nd battery under the hood reasonably(would look just like the starter battery ,but would be a deep cycle).

Nevermind the work pkg... it would weigh around 60 lb and a whole new round of yellow stickers... 5 leaf pack springs etc:D

This might help. A little electrical formula that will help everyone determine what can and can't be run off of the inverter.

PIE or Power(P) is equal to Current(I) multiplied by Voltage(E).
P/I=E Power divided by Current will tell you the Voltage.
P/E=I Power divided by Voltage will tell you the Current.

If you have a 400W inverter and know that the outlet is capable of 120 volts. then 400W/120V=3.33333 amps. If running at 100W then your current output at 120V is only .83 amps.

If you don't know the power draw of an item you can look at the tag on it and it will twll you that it is rated for XXX volts and XX amps. If your running a household vacuum cleaner that draws say 10 amps then you would multiply Voltage and Current to get the power requirements of the item, in this case 120Vx10A=1200 Watts 3 times the capacity of the inverter.

    Hope this helps.

    Replying to the original post.

My cabin button will light up for a few seconds then go out. This is truck on in "park" , and every other configuration. Anyone got an idea?

Amperage, my friend, as mentioned before.

But there are plenty of uses for that outlet. I've run power drills and my DA polisher off of it, just to name a couple. No, it's not very practical, but it's nice to have for small tasks when you're on the trails or the extension cord is too short :D

Do you have something plugged into the outlet or is empty?

I've used mine to run a soldering iron, charge my laptop, MiFi Device, portable stereo, a quick charger for my USB C phone (phone charges fully in about 45 minutes), and numerous other small electronics.

For those saying 3k for the TRD package, that gets you alot more than a bed outlet.

I am puzzled by those that use it to charge laptops and phones etc - or light lights? doesn't the 12v in the cab do that very well? I figured the electrical outlet was more powerful than that - I don't have one and thought I was maybe missing out - but maybe not?

Does it light up both lights briefly or just one?
From the factory, you get 400watts when parked and 100 Watts when driving. I would make sure this is still relevant for the breif time the light does come on.

Did you buy your truck used? Possibly from a TW member?

A few things could be happening here, but it sounds like the breaker is tripping, or you have a loose connection.

I'm not at my truck but I believe it lit both up and both went out simultaneously.

I read my owners manual so I tried the 100W and 400W setups, same result.

I bought it used a month ago and went out to May Long (Canada) and it wouldn't turn on the stereo so started investigating. Even with nothing plugged it does the same sequence

I don't have a 12v plug/adapter for my laptop. My phone is USB type C and a normal cable wouldn't actually charge my phone. It was just keep it charged. I ended up tapping into the converter and putting a AC outlet in the cab.

If both are lighting up regardless of being in Park or Driving down the road, then someone has messed with the wiring so that 400 Watts is always on. From the factory it's only suppose to be 100 Watts while driving.

If that's the case, you may want to pull your center console apart and see if you have loose connection or a crap wiring job.
