Anybody have a Sentry CT installed? On my 2019, the rail is completely flush nearest the cab as expected, but completely raised nearest the tailgate. It's like Truxedo didn't account for the flare in the bed. I reached out to customer support, but their answer is that because of the Tacoma's design the rail sits on top. I would think that you would design AROUND the truck if you're selling accessories for it. Love the cover otherwise, but I'm concerned about leaks in this area and the actual foam seal being eaten up by the elements after a few seasons.

Yeah I bought the Sentry for my 2019 SR back in April. Mine fit just like yours. TruXedo told me the same song and dance. Water would pool up on mine and after it being on my truck for a month getting nowhere with TruXedo we get a nice rain and I look out to see 3 robins bathing on my $750 cover. I took it off and threw it in the dumpster. I have a Extang Trifecta 2.0 on my truck now. Keeps my bed drier than the Sentry and the Lo Pro QT.

Did you make any progress with Truxedo on this? I had this cover on my Raptor and loved it. I was planning on doing this on my yet to arrive Tacoma. Do you think if the cover was an inch longer it would help?

No update. I called and emailed Truxedo and both times they said this was expected due to the design of the Tacoma. Didn’t know Toyota was supposed to design around the cover.

To be fair, I’ve had the cover on for about a month. We’ve had a few big rain storms and I’ve never had any pooling on the cover, or leakage in the bed. I’ve ran it through the car wash a few times and again, outside of a little water near the corners (which are natural ingress points) it did great. It does drive me crazy to see the foam seal lifted towards the end of the bed, but to this point it has been just an aesthetic problem. I am more disappointed that Truxedo basically took a shortcut on the design. The line about being due to the design of the Tacoma is such a cop out. Other brands seem to design around it flawlessly. An extra foot wouldn’t help, because the Tacoma bed flares in at the end and this is what Truxedo doesn’t account for.

Happy to update once winter rolls in.

I will say that this cover overall is great. Can’t beat the canvas top and the simplicity of use. But it’s literally 20 minutes of design away from being perfect. It’s equivalent to scoring 99 points in an NBA game and airballing the last free throw on purpose.

Thank you for the details! I reached out to Truxedo today and they were awesome to deal with. They sent over some photos and it looks like they got it to work, BUT we shouldn’t have to “get it to work.”
This is what they said ... “The thing with the Tacoma is it has a flange that comes in at the rear of the truck so we have to notch this rail and it sits on top to fit with this flange.”
As much as I loved this cover on my Raptor, I’ll likely go in another direction with the Tacoma.

I've never had an issue with water pooling. I honestly don't even see how that could happen if it is installed correctly. You seriously threw it away? If so, that is just absurd...

    lol...

Do you have any pics of the puddling? I have a '19 long bed, which is the same length as your access cab. I've put 100 lbs on top of the cover and the aluminum slats did not even flex, so it's not clear to me how water could puddle if it was installed correctly.

I've had the cover for exactly one year, and I am happy with it. It still looks brand new, sometimes you can see the silhouette of the aluminum extrusions in the top, but as the temperature changes it seams to tighten up and looks like a perfect flat surface. I've only had minor leaks, with nothing getting on top of my bed mat in our wet NW winters or auto carwashes. I did have some issues with the rails when it originally arrived, and the customer service experience was less than perfect. https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/tonneau-cover-recommendations.690986/page-3#post-24417389

I bought it because it looks nice, opens all the way, doesn't block the window, is secure enough, and can be easily removed. It has met all of those goals and then some.

I got the same cover for my 21 Tacoma. I have a question regarding water leaking in when it rains. Mine leaks a little on the 2 corners near to the cab. Does yours do this also? Mine also leaks a bit in the back above the wheel wells but that is because it doesn't sit flush. Have you been able to stop the leaks?

I don't think the OP is on the sight anymore, but I remember another thread about the Truxedo covers where they changed the extrusions a little to prevent what the OP's problem was. I bought my cover in January of 2020 and it installed flat and only leaks a tiny bit at the front of the bed. I could probably seal it up with a little RTV sealant, but it's not enough for me to worry about. I picked up a half dozen cement bags the other day in a rain storm without any problem.

From the pics, it looks like yours is also raised a bit on the back end and not flat. I got mine this month. Anyway to check if they sent me an old version or a new one?

On the bed side rails the foam weatherstripping is smashed down equally from front to back, it doesn't have the same issue that the OP's cover had. The raising at the front and rear of my cover is from the large rubber seal that sits on the tailgate or front rail. I pulled the images below from the Tacoma Supplemental directions, and the rail in the picture is not the rail that my cover came with. My rail doesn't have the ribbed flange at the bottom. I don't know how to tell the age of your cover, but if you bought it new, I can't imagine it being older than mine which was built the month that I ordered it.
