I think he wants it to fit flush inside the bed - it does look clean that way. Challenge is most are made for full size beds

    no boom :(

that's too wide to fit flush. 1st gen have about 50-51" between the rails and about 15-16" bed depth.

unfortunately it's going to be almost impossible now due to no one producing for a 10+ year old truck

@neverstuck has the right idea but you would need to bolt it down or restrain it

yeah you're gonna have to do something like neverstuck, find the right sized box and bolt it to the bed...

I have a very specific size needed for my situation, and I've been looking for a while to find the right solution. They make so many options for full size trucks, and so few for these. I need something that is deep enough to be functional, so 16" tall like Frizzman mentioned, but shallow in width so the door can clear my roof top tent, and short enough
in length to stay inside the bed rails to clear the verticals of the rack.
    IMG_0556.jpg
Best image I can show, but I have essentially 18" max for the swing of the lid from where it hinges to clear the tent. Almost every box they make is 20" wide. Some companies make an over the rail 12" wide box that is only about 13" deep and 5" of its depth sticks up above the bed rail. I have about 13" between those 2 vertical bars, so that may be too tight, and from what I've read the boxes are made of super thin gauge aluminum, they bend if you breathe on them wrong and for what I need it to do that won't cut it.

This is the best option I've found so far, and it may be what you're looking for as well.

The dimensions are 46.9" long x 17.5" wide x 16.2" deep. I like that it has the recessed hinge in the back so the box cam be pushed tight to the bed front. I think with he wedge bottom it will fit pretty snug in the area between the wheel wells. For a little more reference here's the measurements I took for the bed dimensions.

Truck bed’s interior dimensions are 15 ½” deep from top of bedrail to bed floor, 73 ½” from bed top at front to tailgate, and 57” wide between bedrails. Along the bottom interior it’s ~14 ½” from front of bed by cab to front of wheel well at bed floor, and ~47” to back of wheel well at bed floor closest to tailgate measured from bed front by cab. It’s 41” wide from inside wheel wells, and 7” from top of wheel well to bed rail top.

nice measurements! I still have the Toyota drop-in liner so it eats another 1/2" depth for me. I also run an Undercover Tonneau in the summer and it sits about 1/2-3/4" below the rails. I like the tonneau but I've started carrying more tools and random junk that a box would help to hold.

Yeah, I have all my straps and stuff that I want to keep dry as well as spare parts and such when on adventures, so I'd really like a good storage place, but damn, $400 is more than I want to spend.

same, I can spend for things but I want them to fit right. I've thought about making something out of wood kind of like the platforms but just in front.
