Truck sluggish and lots of smoke out of exhaust after oil change

Just had my oil changed and now my truck is sluggish and it's blowing tons of smoke out of the tailpipe.

Any ideas what might be wrong?

 

Who did the oil chAnge. Probably overfilled

 

Did they drain the right oil?
Might have drained tranny and overfilled engine oil.

well fuck me. i guess i should drain it myself then start all over again?

 

Check the engine oil dipstick. There is one on the thrird gen. right?

 

i don't think so. can't seem to find one anyway

 

One too many burritos from TACO Bell

 

Dip stick is right at the front of the engine by the air box. Should also check your trans fluid.

 

There is an engine oil dipstick, but no Transmission fluid dipstick.

 

i know... just messing. yeah, way too much oil. and tranny is low. FML.

guess that's it. gotta drive the mini van to go get replacement and do it myself i guess

 

Nope....get it towed to where they changed the oil and let them deal with it....might have damaged your tranny.
Let it be documented, in case you have issues later.

 

Best to put oil in crank case not gas tank?

 

Doesnt that depend on if he did it originally? If he did it, do you think they may not cover if damage was done? If they did it, well that's another story.

You know ,I wrote a post this afternoon when somebody else did this themselves. I was going to suggest painting the transmission drain plug and area around it red or orange to warn the uninformed away from this plug. Then I thought maybe this would attract them to it instead and I deleted it. I have a 2nd gen. and manual transmission. Is there any benefit to this? Too late for the O/P though.

 

Original post says that he "had the oil changed"....I'd let the place fix it.

 

I wrote "TRANNY" on the tranny pan, with a paint marker....but, I do my changes myself, so, just in case.
