Had an "oh shit"er today. Engine shut off and won't start. Had to get towed home.

Either a bad relay or fuel pump are my thoughts; where should I start?

I hooked up the OBDII reader and didn't get any signal from the ECU. I removed the AEM FIC piggy back to isolate the issue. I'm thinking a relay somewhere blew.

Battery is strong. Cranks good and hard, just missing spark or fuel.

All fuses good. It has to be a relay. Swapped the fuel pump relay with one of the other relays to see if that was the issue. Going to check the fuel line pressure tonight. If there is still pressurized fuel in the lines then pump is good. If no fuel or pressure then pump is bad. But with the OBDII not reading, tells me a relay that feeds the ECU is bad... Not sure.

In my experience, relays very rarely fail.

Had this happen once on the freeway. Toyota swore it wasn't the fuel pump when I dropped it off. Later in the day the called me and said i was correct.

I hope so. That would be easy. Electrical would be shitty.
Haha, where's BlueT to start raving about Toyota?

Bad circuit open relay or EFI relay, or 7.5a ign fuse??? Mine is green mounted just below the steering column behind the lower dash panel.

This is for a 99 5vz, but the 3rz is wired the same. Idk what your your truck is but it's probably similar...

    ECM grounds vibrate loose

Is your no connection with the ECM just a dirty and corroded plug ??

Involved with lots of water being were it is not supposed to be ?? This tends to cause all sorts of electrical fun.

Just how many miles are we talking about here ??

138k miles. Electrical connections look good. Will check relays under steering column.

Would rain the battery though, no? Going to test the fuel pump today weather permitting.
